BMW loaner has Experience Modes and Caring cars options?!?
Dropped off my 19’ x50i at the dealership and noticed this 19’ x40i loaner has Experience Modes and Caring cars options on the menu.
Is this a x40i only features? (Uploading the pics from my iPhone so they might be sideways) |

No, they are not only for 40i's. You need to have a prerequisite version of iDrive and then they are installed during an Apps and Services update. No one has been able to figure out how BMW chooses which vehicles will get them and when but eventually all probably will.

Thx for the info,
The 40i looked great, could handle road bumps a little better but lacked the torque and the acceleration the 50i gives you with normal driving. It’s a very calm acceleration in all of the driving ranges even when i got on the throttle just once. No need to worry about driving over the speed limit and risking a ticket vs the x50i. Not to completely dis on the 40i, but I’m sure the 50i would feel the same after driving the x5m. |

I'm actually in the opposite situation. My 40i is in trying to get the communications back after losing them once again and I have a 50i for the loaner. It is fun to stomp on it once and awhile but for normal driving I prefer the acceleration of the 40i, just seems more user-friendly if that makes sense. It could be though that I'm used to driving mine and would eventually get use to 50i if I had one.

Definitely never need to worry about not having enough power. Like I said, I think it is just a matter of what I'm used to. At this point I instinctively press the pedal and it reacts differently that my 40i, that is for sure. That said, I have never found the 40i to be short on power either.

++ i still have the v6 loaner this weekend and i just have to add that the most incredible benefit by far is the gas usage. The gas meter doesn’t really move at all compared to the 50i! I drove it out of state from Atlanta to Auburn before the gas meter moved. In the 50i, the gas meter was visually dropping before you Left the Atlanta city limits. I did utilize sport + to maneuver some high speed highway passes around slow left hand lane drivers and the v6 doesn’t disappoint. I take back about the V6, she’ll run when you need her too and last a lot longer between the fill ups.
