What kind of loaner cars did you guys get?
As I went to the dealer today for the two recalls, they gave me an x3 as a loaner.
Shouldn't they give me an x5-equivalent loaner for the recall? And I have to pay 20 bucks for the admission fee or whatever fee it is. In addition, I have to return the car with a full gas tank! I mean the recall itself already caused my a lot of troubles, and they do not think it is enough. |

I first got an X2. Then after they bricked my car, they switched it out to an X3 after I complained about how small that little thing is. Then when it appeared there was no end in sight to get my car back, I pushed hard for an X5 and got it for the remaining couple weeks before they un-bricked my car.
Second and third times I got base model X3s, despite having asked for X5s (which always seem to be "unavailable at this time"). I don't have any fees, but I do have to return with a full tank of gas, which is reasonable in my opinion (though they aren't strict on that). |

My coworker had a bad experience with a loaner via GEICO. He got into a little accident and GEICO said they would not cover him. So now I am hesitant on getting a loaner car because I have the same insurance.

I’ve gotten everything from a 320 to a 650, it all depends on your relationship with the service advisor or manager. A little thank you gift or a bottle goes a long way.

Usually I get an X3 or an X1.
TBH, I am just happy they give me any car so I can get on with my day and not have to wait around or rely on rides

I’ve had a 5 series with under a 1000 miles on it and 2 X3`s both with under a 1000 miles on them and they were all very nice base vehicles but nothing compared to my X5. The X5 has a presence that’s above and beyond any base vehicle I’ve had thus far.

Insurance should follow the driver (as long as you are on the policy) and not the car. In other words, Geico got out of paying by lying about coverage. The only other thing I could think is that your friend doesn't carry collision coverage, which means his liability coverage should have paid for the car he hit, and he would have had to pay out of pocket for the damage to the loaner. (I am a former auto claim adjuster)

You both may have the same insurance company (GEICO)...but your policies could have totally different coverage. Check to be sure as to what your policy covers in regards to rental and loaner cars.
