Pick up from dealership or have it delivered to home?

My dealership is 3hours far. I am scheduled to pick up my 2020 X5 next week.
Given that dealer is ready to deliver the car to my home what should I pick? Drive there and pick up the car or have him drive to me and drop the car?

Anyone can think of pros and cons for both?
It definitely saves time if I have it delivered for free of charge. Any insights will be appreciated.

Lol that was my exactly my first thought. But if I pick it up I will have to wait two weeks since I am preoccupied with some family stuff. Its just the thought of waiting two more weeks is harder.

That's a good point. Do you really want the dealer using your car for test drives for the next two weeks? My general rule of thumb is to get the car out of the dealer's possession as soon as possible.

One, you should confirm if they'd literally drive your vehicle to you.

Two, what they should do is flatbed your vehicle to you - that way the only mileage is driving it on to the flatbed.

I'd personally pick it up to visually inspect before taking delivery.

I am facing a similar decision. I definitely don't want some random employee driving 3 hours to me. I want to see the car, get the whole new car experience and spend the time getting used to it. Make a day out of it.

You don't want the dealer to drive it to you unless you must and you know the person driving will be careful when they drive it. Some of the drivers at my dealer are actually pretty experienced and careful. A few are retired LEO's and gave us courtesy rides while we were waiting at the dealership. The had actual jobs at the dealership.

On the other hand, back in the late '60s, a friend and I (teenagers) managed to get pickup jobs driving cars for a dealership... if your dealership operates that way you don't want them driving your car.

For me, I'd rather wait the two weeks. But call the dealer and have them give you the current mileage on the car and make sure it hasn't been driven during the two-week wait.
