Worth waiting 48V mild hybrid system on X5 40i?

Worth waiting 48V mild hybrid system on X5 40i?

Will it appear in the next 6-7 months? 5 series gets this feature this autumn.
I am about to order new X5 40i and i hesitate: to wait for 48V mild hybrid system or not? :-)

thanks for hints.

Don't know about the BMW system, but it's transparent on the wife's E53. Auto start-stop is good but not noticeably better than 12V systems. no other differences that I can feel.

I think the hybrid is going to be the best X5. I will be looking to trade for one in 3 years. I hope that 7500 tax credit is still around.

Have tried the GLE450 with 48V mild hybrid system - actually, I had one on order before I switched to X5.
Even though it is supposed to have some theoretical advantage on paper, you really can't feel it in everyday driving and the benefit is really "mild" . I personally don't think it is worth the wait.

The main advantage with the GLE450 system is the stop/start is seamless as it starts using the 48 volt battery, also aids fuel consumption at low revs.

Anyone know when the 48V battery will begin for the X5 40i? I thought I read December production for Jan 2020 delivery at one point but haven’t seen any recent updates.

Thought that was only for the 5 Series...

The bmw insider on the post below mentions X5 for 2020 (but isn’t clear on timing), and bmwblog mentions the X5 as well.

No plans for the US 2020 X5 to receive a mild hybrid system, perhaps in 2021 but my guess is not likely.
