Because it was a manual. Didn't you remember that 90% of Americans don't know what a clutch is?

What surprised me the most was seeing this in their rental pool because of that very reason.

Shouldn't be surprising. With all the transformations to DCT and the like, manual is a dying breed for American culture.

It sucks, because I couldn't even find a 128 in manual other than across the US, which is why I settled. It's been a 2 year regret now. So fucking boring.

I know the feeling. I made it about 18 months with my first automatic before I traded it in. At least you have the bike.

I actually don't mind the automatic in the RR but if it came with a manual option, i would have gone with it.

What I meant was...why have a manual trans in a rental pool. Makes no sense.

As for the tranny...depends on the car. IMO, a 6MT in a big GT is the same as a 6MT in a 750. Ridiculous.

Ferrari announced late last year that there will be no more manuals in their lineup and like it or not, for whatever reason you may think of, the future belongs to DCT because for a sports car or a sports coupe or a big fast powerful GT like the M6, it's faster, more precise, and more flexible with gearing (more gears with shorter ratios).

Yes...cars like the GT4 will be around for the purists and niche marketers.

This is the problem....choice. It's like my civil liberties are being taken away because I can't get a damn 6MT

I've been considering trading it in, but I need to get this hood situation figured out still. Then there the want of a bike upgrade. Need to slow down on the spending for a while.

Was kind of in a bind because the Rsx-S would have never passed state inspection so I needed to get rid of it. Done fucked up is an understatement.

This is the exact reason I drove to your old stomping grounds to buy mine. Auburn Hills I think. 12 hours from PA was well worth it. My girl drives a peppy v6 Altima with 270 hp and the CVT trans. I cant even handle driving it now I get so bored. The "fake downshifts" with the paddles just drive me nuts knowing they arent really in a gear. My next car purchase may be a nice 535i and I am seriously on the fence between manual and DCT. It will be more of a highway cruiser.

Ah, I gotcha. Having a manual in a rental fleet is odd, for America at least. At least everyone else was too dumb to figure out the third pedal so you can enjoy it.

It's totally car dependent, it'd make no sense in a 7 series or any larger car. While I can appreciate and totally understand what Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc., are doing with DCT from a performance standpoint as they are supercars and meant to be track sluts. I just think it's kind of crummy that they are literally taking away the option to have a 6MT as a whole. Unless purists in higher end cars that opt for 6MT has drastically come down, it would be nice to have the choice of either or.

Yes, a 5,000lb high CG SUV with an auto.
