Voice command button

Is there a way of getting radio or music source to mute when you press the voice command button on steering wheel, it muted on my previous cars but doesn't on my new one.

There is a setting within the ‘sound’ setting menu that gives a few options for how much muting is done during voice commands. I think one option is none at all, I think I have mine set on the middle option. This is on 8.5.

Mine is 8.5 but can't find any setting for muting during voice commands.

If not on sound setting, it might be tied with the voice command setting which is under system settings. But just like what six said above, i know ive seen that option too snd made changes to it.

Had a look, the setting is in sounds > volume settings. Gives three options but doesn't seem like you can have 'no muting', instead three levels..

Also I need to confirm, this is certainly the case for the sat nav spoken instructions, I think also the case for the voice button.

I have seen these settings but don't think they relate to what happens when you use the voice command buttons, easy to test as just press the voice command button and it should alter volume of what is on the audio, may be wrong but would have thought there would be a mute option. On id7 the audio muted when the voice command button was pressed.

Tested this in mine this morning and it does indeed control the level of mute applied when then voice control button is pressed.

High is pretty much full mute on background sound and low is almost no mute. Left mine on low as it still seemed to pick up voice commands with the radio playing in the background.

Try this. It worked for me to have the music mute when trying to use Siri in CarPlay

Interesting follow up, since I updated to OTA 11/2024 software these volume mute level controls now don’t seem to function as before.

Previously I had it as ‘low’ and could hear the radio in the background when pressing the mic/talk button, now when I press the button it’s pretty much a full background mute even at the ‘low’ setting, hmmm
