X5 LCI time zone

I noticed the time didn't adjust automatically, so I went into time settings toggled automatic time setting off and on and now it sets my time zone to Kabul, Tashkent, Maldives. I've tried manually setting it to NY, which also shows the wrong time. Resetting the head unit by holding the power button, and continuously toggling the automatic time setting button. I have the November iDrive update so I believe everything is updated. Anything else I can try?

Turn off auto mode, manually set the time zone THEN set the time. My automatic timezone never get the right location for me either. It gets me as close to +1 or -1.

Auto mode worked perfectly fine before. It's very strange to me it defaults to a time zone completely wrong.

Same here, I had to disable the automatic time zone and enable it again. Now I got the Havana time zone. One would think that these would be very polished by now no?

Time zones have always been somewhat broken, dating back to ID7. I think some ID8.x code is based off ID7 so whatever bugs there are still exist today. BMW seems oblivious to fixing this too.

It set mine to the exact same cities! I thought it was picking it up from my cell phone and my VPN was using a strange foreign server. I just toggled auto off and set it manually. Kinda annoying.

I can confirm, this has been issue since ID6. I was really hoping this would have been fixed in 7-8 years that have passed.

I’m in NYC and suddenly my car also thinks I’m in Kabul. I’ve been very underwhelmed by iDrive 8.x; tons of bugs and some are very difficult to repro like when my driving assistance simply refused to work until I rebooted. They have a serious quality control problem.

That automatic time zone toggle should have a smiley emoji next to it. Damn thing hasn't worked right forever. It bothers me more on trips when it misses time zone changes.
