Just picked up a MY24 x5 and have had issues with the iDrive 9 restarting while driving and then this morning, not turning on at all for over a minute from a cold start.

Anyone have similar issues? Or know what could be going on?

I would give it a couple of weeks and see how it is. Over the first few days I did notice there's some stuff going on with the BMW ID profile synching to BMW servers as you add different key options, BMW connected services and apps being loaded onto the car and so on .... Things should ultimately settle down.

I've seen similar with my week 34 build idrive 8.5. Also lots of phone connection issues. It's not a great software build and I'm hoping BMW rolls out a patch soon.

Just one time? Press the power button for 20+ seconds and see if that helps.. iDrive 8.5, probably 07/2023.40? BMW's achiles heel is the software.

iDrive 9 is not supported on the X5, probably why you are having issues.

Seriously though, let your dealer know and maybe they will install .53 which should take care of it.

This was my guess…odd that the system restarts so much. Maybe it’s a sign…should’ve just gotten the M.

About 4X in 3 days of ownership.

Yes, probably a dozen times or more and android auto is flakey. Waiting for a software update to hopefully fix both.

You seem to be right about software, definitely room for improvement from what I read. Although Audi and VW would probably be very happy with BMW or Merc current software situation.

Agreed and although there have been other posts on a reboot while driving (rare) or the iDrive screen going blank (rare) the OP's situation almost sounds like a head unit problem especially with iD not even starting up at all after starting the vehicle. It's technically there or the X5 wouldn't even start so head unit/screen issue most likely and the dealer can sort that out.

Never noticed it while driving. On startup it is somewhat common. Once or twice a week. Also the random phone connection issues and the "unsupported bluetooth" error. Usually goes away after a minute or two.

^ Yup, i think alot of us are getting that message !! You can delete and repair and the message might go away for a few days. It will eventually come back.

Which version of vehicle s/w is installed on your car?

07/2023.40 it sucks!!! I don't get it, how can it be this bad and not being able to update OTA, a $200 cell gets updates every month.
And it gets drastically worse if I activate the valet parking mode and come back to my profile... ughh!
