I have seen others post about this, car annoyingly sometimes just leaves power on indefinitely due to some sequence of events. Happens every now and then to my wife, think maybe it is when she leave the door open too long getting stuff out of the car, then you close the door and power just stays on radio playing idrive powered up etc.

Also happens if you power up the car with the button but don't start it, seems to be no way to power off the car, it is supposed to I believe then you open and close the door but doesn't seem to work.

Fix to this was press the idrive knob up and the drop down menu from the top had Power Off as a choice, updated to 07.2020 OTA update and BMW removed power off as a choice, now only have screen off.

Does anyone know any other trick to powering down the car idrive/dash etc when it won't do it by itself, only option I can find is to lock the car but that is annoying as it is in the garage and we don't keep it locked, so you go out later to get something out of the car and the car is locked.

I use the setting that shuts things down when I open the door but like you said there are some instances where that doesn't work. You can either just let it go since it will shut down in a few minutes or press and hold the volume button for a few seconds.

I will try the volume button trick does that shut everything off, idrive, dash etc?
