"highest trim level"? YUK, looks like something the Tijuana boys cooked up.

On the Genesis forum quite a few people wish they could get the top trim but get a spare instead of the third row and get the 20" wheels rather than 22". Most have said though they will compromise and get it anyway even though it isn't like they would configure it.
That would be my problem. Actually, going to their US configurator, if you pick the top "Advanced" power train, there's no mention of wheels or tire size, you get one option package ("Standard?), interior colors apparently limited by exterior color (one if you select green), no interior materials selections (or even what they are in the selection - rhino hide, saran wrap?). It's definitely not "one from column A, one from column B." It's like "Here's the car - what color do you want?"

Hyundai and Genisis have really upped their game. For example, the Palisade has a gorgeous interior for its price point. Genisis is outstanding. I saw a burgundy and green interior. WOW.

Right, that is also what people on this forum thought when they took the poll for the interior that was the most luxo. (note, the poll intentionally did not include the G05).. ..

"outstanding" and Genesis should not be used in the same sentence.
A guy in our high rise bought himself one of those awful G90s and calls it a Korean Mercedes. Pretty laughable watching a clown like this trying to play keep up with the Jones as there are many S-Class MB in the buildings garage. These cars just plain suck:Name: daniel-pund-january-2020-genesis-g90-1580313156.jpg

Outstanding is the word I'll stick to. Especially considering the price point.

Show me what other vehicle has those options, build quality, style and luxury in that price range.

Genesis is trying to pass for a parody of the European high brands which it is clearly not, boring half ass Asian crap for tight wads and wannabees.

^ I would suggest that you may want to take an afternoon and experience one for yourself. I think you will learn a lot in regards to the quality of materials they use and the quality of vehicle they are producing. In many areas they are on par, or even ahead, of the Germans. While I will likely stick to BMW for a number of reasons there certainly is no shame for anyone getting a Genesis over a German brand.

I respect your opinion and I have driven a G80 and a G70 about a year ago. I have no interest in any of those cars, they just have that unmistakable light weight(tin can) feel that I despise. I'll stick with BMW and Cadillac.
I'm sure some people are happy with their Korean cars but you don't get gold for the price of silver.

I hate to sound like the Genesis apologist because I really do prefer the X5 to the GV80 in most every category, but I would argue that Genesis has much better quality than anything Cadillac has put out in over a decade, except for the newest Escalade.

I've sat in an ATS, CTS, last gen Escalade, and XLR; sitting in each of those revealed dated and hard to use infotainment, hard plastics littered throughout the cabin, cheap GM fonts, and parts bin sharing from the lowest end GM models.

What Genesis has done over just a handful of years is remarkable. They've hired away designers from top luxury brands, upped their marketing spend, invested in quality control, and are now putting out vehicles that compete in almost every way with established top tier brands, trading brand image and high-end performance for value.

I'm all for fanboy-ing over the BMW in any comparison with another brand, but I think it's equally important to give other brands credit where credit is due.

Lastly, in terms of gold for the price of silver, I'd say that cuts both ways. Compare the new 2 Series Gran Coupe to a G70, and you'd be hard pressed to pick the BMW in any category except brand prestige.

The 2021 Escalade is better than anything Genesis has put forward, including the 2021 G/V80. If Cadillac can update their entire fleet with what they did for the 2021 Escalade they will become great again.

Ok, at least you have seen/tried a Genesis. I think if you try a GV80/New G80 one you may have a different experience. The ones you tried were designed by a different regime under Hyundai prior to Genesis becoming its own entity. Obviously I'm not here to sell you, or anyone, on Genesis since I want many BMWs sold to make them a strong company but rather trying to get some information out there.

Looks, quality, reliability, dealer experience have been top notch and in addition the car was almost $10k Canadian cheaper than its German rivals

Certainly not “Asian knock off junk” in my opinion.

BTW my watch was made by a very old established Swiss watch maker so I’m not part of your fake “Rolex/ LV crowd.
Nothing can come to BMWs performance and their tech has improved significantly. Awaiting delivery of 2023 X7. Acura never did it for me, nothing about Acura excites me too boring car. Also being 10k cheaper is not a big deal when you are in luxury/performance SUV market.

These low end Asian car companies love to be mentioned in sentences with BMW, Porsche, MB, Audi, etc... as if they are on par with the historical big boys. It’s marketing 101. These Asian vehicles have zero soul and zero original design elements. They have no idea who they are or unique identity because all they’ve been doing is copying elements of other vehicles for years with cheaper materials. Like a knock off Prada bag.
Not gonna happen and not gonna be a serious player to the Germans. They may snipe a few sales from Lincoln or Buick.
Just another Japanese jaguar

Speedyman was banned quite awhile ago (twice actually). When Scungillo showed up I thought maybe he came back yet again.

Here are a couple videos:

In comparison to Genesis, I think the X5 is safe. It has been and still is the benchmark.

I like my X5 a lot but I am concerned about reliability post warranty. The Koreans are confident enough to provide a 10/100 drivetrain warranty. BMW wants thousands to extend beyond 4/50.

I like Hyundai/Kia/Genesis, but not enough to buy one (yet).

The 10/100K warranty really started as something to get buyers interested in the brand - it was a key differentiator. It still is, so it isn't really a show of confidence. Lots of engine issues plague various models. The dealership/service experience is one of the worst in the industry as well.

I think this is why Hyundai (parent co.) has decided to go all into EVs, with no new development of ICE technology. Hyundai has a real opportunity to lead the EV market, especially with the Japanese brands, the historic hallmarks of quality and reliability, completely and utterly dropping the ball on BEV.
