You want to make sure you don't click on Installed Apps though, just highlight it and then hit the Option button.

I was going to suggest you check what is maybe an obvious thing, but have you double-checked your ConnectedDrive account to verify your Drive Recorder subscription hasn't expired? (I don't know what happens if it does…but a grayed out application might be a possibility…)

the Drive Recorder doesn't require a subscription. it stays active as long as hardware and software support it

Unfortunately "Update Apps and Services" is not helping either. It ends with success after just several seconds. The Drive Recorder and News apps are still grayed out.
My Drive Recorder is not a subscriptions, I've paid for it (checked the box) when I bought the car.

Yea, I get that...same for me (Drive Recorder (Option 6DR) was part of the Executive Package for me here in the US) and it still shows up in my ConnectedDrive account the same way that nZtiZia showed above. But, from a software/services perspective, it appears as though what BMW does is still treat it like a subscription and then just give you a forever subscription when you got it with the vehicle. So, if something in how they do that went haywire for your CD account, then it might show something different.

So, just suggesting that you check it out and make sure it's showing as "As long as technically possible" or something like that...

Now, the fact that you're also seeing News as being grayed out makes it sound like your apps aren't updating at all...which is where you started. I'd call ConnectedDrive folks and have them troubleshoot as my next step.

have you confirmed your Data Privacy settings are allowing your apps to update?

Quick update: Drive Recorder is now functional. 5 days after the update and more than 24h after trying "Update Apps and Services" the app just started working again.

Anyone in Australia managed to get 2021.07.x OTA update? Mine is still 2020.11.50.

My vehicle did download 2021.03 but it was stuck at Ready to Install screen for quite some time before disappearing completely.

So random right.... I heard a few guys over the whirlpool forum advised they did received it. But I am still on 2021.03. It will come when it comes i guess...

I took mine in for this and a couple of other little things (the 12vdc sockets are one) and intially, they didn't want to deal with the OTA updates. But, they must have had a change of heart. They noticed a couple of fault codes that were not erased or able to be deleted after doing it once, then tried again, and after that second time, they were able to clear all of the fault codes. I will be picking it up in a bit today, so I do not know what actual version is now in the X5 45e.

I wonder if the act of coding the vehicle with Bimmercode might have created that problem.

How about responding if you have this issue or not, and if you've gotten an update after using Bimmercode. Now, I did get a couple of updates since I bought it, and had used Bimmercode in between each, but maybe it's certain modules or maybe it's not related at all!?

With the storm, the parts did not come in to do my 12vdc sockets, so I'll pick the thing up and wait for them to come in before I leave it there again, probably next week. Massachusetts closed I-90 to all commercial vehicles and lowered the speed limit to 40-mph for the whole Mass Pike, which I'm sure delayed, or stopped lots of deliveries today.

I moved the thing out of my garage as the snow and mostly ice had started to melt so I could get it off outside rather than pour into the garage and while there, I checked what version of software was in it: 07-02.62. I'd thought it might have November or maybe even newer, but no...at least the major things the July update are now in the thing, and in theory, it should update to whatever the next one they try to push out.

My car just finally offered me software upgrade 07/2021.85 OTA. X5 30d. I had given up all hope, especially after reading about the technical bulletin above.

Will update once phone has downloaded and transferred to car.

Just curious, were you actually offered the OTA by the car or on your cell phone?

I also was just notified on my iPhone that 7/2021.85 was downloading, but when I checked in the car (left my phone in the house) there was still nothing, even when I checked for a software update. It seems that BMW may be trying to push the process entirely through people's cell phones....

I had previously installed OTA updates entirely in my X5 without using my phone at all, so definitely something has changed.
