Fuel door won't open

Saw this somewhere but couldn't find solution. Have 2024 X5 40i. Just completed 2,000 mile trip and no problems. Today I cleaned and waxed car and wanted to open fuel door to reattach gas cap keeper. Fueled car about 100 miles ago. Unlocked, car on car off, doors open, closed, any combo I could think of. The fuel door won't open - could hear a click when I pressed lock and unlock car with the key. Any ideas?

Not sure about the 40i but on the 50e you need to press the dual flap button near the bottom of the drivers door

there should be some type of emergency unlocking procedure. my 45e has one. refer to your owner’s manual

the 50e requires that button because its fuel tank is pressurized and needs to be depressurized prior to opening. AFAIK, full ICE variants such as the 40i don’t have the same design

Agree, different design. I’ll check with the emergency release procedure. Thanks for reminder.

Well, the manual says see dealer, WTF, just finished 2000 mi trip in the SW. Few dealers where I was!! I pulled inside trunk panel and only fuses and wiring there. And the genius not on duty. Waiting on my dealer service to call me back.
