Wireless telephone charging feature is not in the 2022 models. Are there any aftermarket products reccomended?

DIY Wireless Charger Install (not OEM) (2022 X5 45e) https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1852263

retrofit wireless charging https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1721277

can mount your own externally (I did, pictured below. I don't even use the OEM wireless charging tray.) or just plug in.

I understand that some 22 models don't have the wireless charging but just wanted to throw this piece of information in this thread for others; the 6NW Wireless Charging package is now available. My order scheduled for production 02/07 has this.

Mine too. However comes at a cost of $500 which is pretty difficult to swallow for a wireless charger!

My m50i didn’t come with it, but given that I think it’s limited to 5w, which is crazy slow.

I got one of these and have it hooked to the vent and it’s great:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082SVRWLT/

I have a short usb a to c cable connecting the USB port in the cup area to it. It auto open/close and is fast wireless charging. I think this is a better solution than OEM personally.

Does anyone know the part number of the OEM wireless charger along with the cup holder heater/cooler?

I would like to retrofit it in mine 45e 22.

BMW should call it the phone cooker. Good for maintaining your current charge if you're lucky.

Just put the order in yesterday for m50i and got a production number but status only shows order received. My garage says wireless charger is included. Am I safe or no? Estimated build date is 3/11

Just have a USB C cable in your arm rest man.

I have wireless charging and I can tell you, its trash.

Not just BMW's, but all wireless charging is a scam.

Wired is faster, more efficient and safer for your battery. No reason to use wireless charging...like ever.

Yes, many don't know that it comes with a signal booster which really comes in handy.

All wireless charging is a scam? That's going too far. Wireless charger on the nightstand is convenient for overnight charging.

BMW have been singing that song for over 14 years with improved signal boost when the handset is in the cradle/charger. It only ever worked reasonably well when handsets actually had an external antenna connection. Now it's done via inductive coupling and it's about as functional as a chocolate teapot.

wireless charging alone isn't worth $500, but this amount includes the LTE booster. that's why it costs so much.

also of note, many folks think they lose Digital Key if they don't have wireless charging; that's not true. wireless charging components are separate and independent of NFC components for Digital Key/digital key card use. (Digital Key requires Comfort Access feature.)

I have the option listed on my window sticker, and I'm sure I've tried it in the past but generally don't need to charge on the road.

The thing is, now it isn't doing anything when I put my phone there. I found a checkbox in the settings for warning me about leaving the phone in there, but not one for turning it on & off (if such a setting exists). So I'm guessing it just broke?

As far as overheating, I think that's an iPhone thing. My work cell is an iPhone and it overheats in the cradle I have from my Samsungs which still work for the Pixel 7 (yeah, slower than straight plugging, but I've worn out USB ports on phones in the past).

The oem wireless charger, the lack is it isn’t a big deal. It is at the wrong place IMO. It charges slow too. For $500 option in MY22, it is grossly over price. I much prefer setup on post #2.

As for heating up the phone, it is an compatibility issue. Possibly the case play a role too. My ip13 used to heat up with previous case, now with a different case, one with a metal ring on the back, no heat up issue. I think charge faster too.

it’s always on, but a blue LED on the left side of the tray lights up when the phone is charging. can also set up the phone widget on iDrive home page where a lightning bolt enclosed by parentheses shows when the phone is charging (( ,’/‘ ))

I am not seeing an LED, nor does the phone momentarily light up when it's placed in there. Not a huge deal, but it came up the other day with my brother's phone needing a charge. I'll keep a C-C and maybe a C-Bmicro cable in there.

The next time I bring it in for something more substantial, I'll add that to the list.

The LED in the charger is an indication when you've got the phone in the sweet spot...if it does not illuminate, try moving the phone. Also, at least for me with my height and seat position, it's hard to see without some contortions, so you may just be missing it.

The LTE compensator may or may not help, but if you're in a marginal coverage area, it can make all the difference of whether you can make or receive calls. Depends on your phone and where you are.

I finally got the phone to light up and the LED, but there's definitely a small sweet spot, as the LED doesn't stay lit and sometimes it takes a lot of fooling around to get it to activate at all.

Could it be the larger phones are more temperamental in there?
