I'm at the "dispatched from factory" stage. Is there any way I can track its progress across the country as it rides the train from SC to Los Angeles? I vaguely seem to remember from a previous post when I got my last X5 three years ago that it was possible but I never bothered to follow up.

Not particularly bothered as my (excellent) SA tells me it should arrive early / mid may, and I don't want it any earlier as I'm off on a road trip early may so might as well put the miles on the old car, but would be fun to track it's journey across the country if possible.

Genius started providing the train tracking information a few years ago. It seems they are able to at least give you the last and next stop. You can also get the BOL number and use the BNSF's tracking but that isn't really needed anymore if Genius gives the info.

You can try email but generally the best info is from talking to a live person or two.

Hopefully it'll go quickly! That was the hardest part of my M3 build was waiting at port and traveling across the ocean.

Sales person has sent me the production number and a screenshot of the 1980 application but it doesn't tell much.
