Imagine spending 6 grand to PPF and ceramic coat a $30,000 mazda lol.

My detailer is currently doing an insane job on a tesla model Y.

Hes doing full vinyl fancy blue wrap including door jambs , followed by full Xpel PPF, followed by full ceramic pro 9H (5 !!!! layers), wheels and calipers too. And then tints all around.

Price? $15000

He says telsa people are crazy and they keep the wrapping business alive and well lol.

lol.. for 15K that guy is definitely getting raped.. Tesla's are far easier to wrap or PPF than say F95/96 type vehicle.. plus removing tesla parts is the easiest part, most of the time they just fall off on their own!

Yea speaking from experience.. don't get me wrong I love the tech aspect and it's nice sometimes to be completely quiet.. of course most important aspect "speed" it's just stupid fast and for it's weight handles impressively not to mention air ride suspension comfort and ability to drive slammed or 4Runner style when needed..

But.. the build quality is poor to say at best", and still continues to be.. they haven't gotten c down of craftsmanship yet.. btw I knew all of this before getting into it but didn't really expect it to be this bad.. def not worth as much as they ask.. that's where Tesla fan boys come into play who generally are not true car enthusiasts and will shell out whatever us being asked just like getting raped on their mods.. and in the process won't even realize these flaws..

Most of the tesla fan boys I see are techy millennials or gen z kids who see cars are obsolete. They have no idea about the mechanics of an engine, suspension, transmission or even driving.

They see their teslas as iphone with each new one having a higher CPU score than the previous version.

If we start to turn cars into yearly purchases like phones, this planet is truly doomed.

Labor cost to wrap a Tesla is about $3000 usd , excluding the xpel or stek , they pretty similar price. The reason I go with stek because they are manually cut, while xpel cutting template is pre determine by their software hence when come to edges , stek just wrap up much nicer

fyi you can do the same on xpel.. just set your plotter to cut say 1" extra on original template and you got material for your wrapped edges..

This is very true, the sad part is once everyone start dumping these things in the landfill like the phones..... Tesla has the vehicle on lock down like Apple does, and if the right to repair act isn't successful this planet is going to look like the movie WALL-E.... Very sad honestly. Don't get me wrong working on an electric vehicle is actually much more simple but that is coming from electrical engineering background not mechanical. But if we aren't allowed to do so, then we are all screwed. Heck they are starting to make it pay to play with Tesla leading the pack.

A reputable xpel installer doesn't use the Xpel pre cut. They custom cut to each car they wrap and tuck every edge possible for the best resistance to lift off and edge dirt.

Exclusive Vinyl in NY does it like this. They literally put a giant film on the panel and custom cut it by hand. They are artists. Everyone there is insanely good.

Off topic, but sadly we are definitely heading in WALL-E direction.. just look at obesity.. WALL-E nailed it (and that was like what, a decade ago?).. trains of single human pods rolling around while sucking on liquid food hahahahaha

I think humans in general are fitter than ever compared to 100 years ago.

We have better food, better nutrient delivery systems, more access to exercise, tons of ways to track food and exercise consumption, tons of drugs to battle disease, etc.

Obesity is going up because the population is going up and more and more countries are getting access to being able to produce surplus. Portions are getting bigger all over the world.

But still, humans in general are fitter than ever.
