Black M Mirror Caps Installed

I purchased a set of M mirror caps off Amazon and installed them tonight. First set (different seller) had to be returned as the finish was awful and they were pretty banged up. These look great and were easy to install.

Install was fairly easy/straight-forward. Used the included plastic pry tool to release the stock mirror cap, starting from the outer/top side, releasing the top first, then the bottom. Only issue was that I didn't get clips aligned the first time I put on the drivers side and had to remove it and reinstall it (my fault/rushing). Otherwise, took about 10-15 minutes to do both sides.

No need to remove the mirror glass. All that was needed was to remove the mirror cap and install the new one.

Thanks...I have heard about both versions, success and failures with both...from craking a mirror to messing up a clip when prying the cap.

Looks great... The link you provided only shows the carbon version? How did you get the gloss black?

Thanks. Yeah. I noticed the link isn't for the gloss black anymore. I suspect they sold out.

I also bought and installed these to replace the expensive OEM M Performance carbon fiber caps that delaminated after only 2 years. these are helluva lot cheaper to replace even if I have to do so every 2 years which would take almost 30 years to add up to what I paid for the OEM ones

I preferred to remove the mirrors because it provides direct access to release the caps’ retention tabs. popping/prying them off risks breaking the tabs. ask me how I know…

I preferred to remove the mirrors to ensure full engagement of the inner retention tabs. removal of the caps is easier this way because of direct access to release the tabs. popping/prying off the caps risks breaking the tabs. ask me how I know…
yeah...I broke a tab as well.

Can you replace the tabs if broken easily? Where do you get replacements?

there’s no tab replacements, but I guess one can try the baking powder/super glue trick

I did similar, except I went with the carbon fiber. Excellent results, I think.

interested to know how those hold up after 2 years. I don’t drive through gravel roads but was appalled how soon the OEM M Performance ones delaminated
