Unless in competitive sport, chasing last few HP, hi-flow cat is just fine. Fit next size up in diameter if you so keen. It will be close to catless. It will take it longer to warmup, as they are metal based and higher flow. Not much gain down low in rpm range, maybe 100prm earlier turbo spool. But will pick up some HP closer to red line, with tune to support. Arguably, turbo to cat section of pipe is a lot more important. Design and diameter are the key. Another alternative is to get metal fabrication company to manufacture twin parallel cats assembly, thus halfling back pressure. This works only is space permits. Benefit is that this set up do not throw CEL. Stock car with tune is much better way to go that to go catless. My 2c, based of modifying exhausts for some years now. Will high-flow catted downpipe pass emissions? Or is that a lost cause?

The active autowerke downpipes use EPA-approved GESI cats; you are much more likely to pass emissions with these downpipes. Of course, each state has different laws, so it's not 100%.

i have fi exhaust catted downpipes on my m50i, ended up getting a CEL. its still smells a bit. If i had to do it again i would've gone catless. The smell is no different but the performance gain is noticeable.

For the m50i you can use the same downpipe a x5m has and all you need is the gasket and the v band clamp for each down pipe that connect it to the lower part of it. Look at x5m exhaust diagram and you will see what I am talking aboout. Otherwise it's the same exhaust just for the x5m it's 2 pieces with a gasket and vband and the m50i it's 1 piece.

They use one of the most expensive cats on the market; that's how they can guarantee the no check engine light.

2 days because of the active shutter delete not because DP. Dp will take longer to show. For me as I already need to delete the cel manually, i dont think its good investment to spend 3k on dp just because the cel. I rather go catless. Do you have any other DP options?
