Implementation of aktive stabilisation to X5 air suspension. Is it possible?
Hi everyone.
I am interested in implementation of aktive stabilisation to my X5 air suspension as it is realised on X7 with Executive Pro suspension. Is it possible at all? What do you mean? I tried to add this option to my FA, but when I calculate FP it turned back with error (( Now I don't speak about the technical part of this question. When aktive stabilisation can be added to M Pro suspension on X5 ( no air ) and to Executive Pro ( with air ) on X7 theoretically it can be mounted on normal air suspension of X5. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

Active stabilization is an electro-mechanical system that uses sway bars. I don't think it can be retrofitted with air suspension.

All main parts are replaceable. The question is how to code it on X5? |

As you said, the X7 is available with active stabilization and air suspension so it is likely doable on the X5 but then again there could be some space/body restrictions that would prevent it. What is more likely though is that the cost of doing so would be the thing that prevents it.

I don't think it can not be combined wit air suspension as X7 has it. They are quite equal. Probably it is just a marketing thin. I know that some people have already done it. But they are in some other region of the world and didn't do it themselves)) Just payed for it. So no way to find out details. |

These are parts that must be on place to make it work. But some coding correction is also necessary. |

If you really want BMW SAV with ARS and Air Suspension, order a X7.
Can't assume that retrofitting ARS suspension parts on a X5 with Air will work and extensive programming required in order for it work, ensuring IAS works with your retro and I'm not talking iDrive. There's a Vertical Dynamics Platform (VDP) processing unit, which controls air, DSC, ARS, IAS, control valves for EDC on the air struts etc, that will need to be replaced - besides time and cost to figure it out - which is why you haven't seen anyone attempt a retrofit. Identify the issue you're trying to solve with your current X5 suspension - if it's roll stabilization that Sport air suspension level height doesn't fix, you might consider looking at dropping the ride height further with links. There's threads in the suspension subforum. Here's a visual of 7 Series/X7 suspension (air, ARS, DSC, etc) that gives you a sense of it's just more than parts:

Do you see a big difference in construction of suspension on X5 and X7? Anyway I do not want to buy X7)) The only thing I really miss in X5 is ARS)) |

Since NEWTIS is shutdown I could have pointed to the ARS on M50i. It's just that DHP on the X5 works with conventional steel springs and not air suspension. If BMW offered DHP with air then I could see it as being more feasible. The thing is Air with ARS on the X7 uses an entirely different and more complex vehicle dynamics platform (VDP) processing unit that's just not available for the X5.

I will check all part numbers of X7 suspension and compare it with mine. But also it would be great to find out if it is really possible to code all this for normal work on X5. As I know some people did it. And it is not that scary)) But I still can not find necessary information how it was coded. Parts and wires are secondary. |

We are not aware anyone with G05 attempted this. Perhaps reach out to someone who has done it with X7.

Yes, OP is saying someone retrofitted afterwards. OP is wondering if same can be done with G05.

I think what the OP is saying is that he knows of people who retrofitted an X5 with ARS. Of course he also is asking if the coding is possible but my guess is what he really is wanting to know is how the coding is done.
