Day after picking up from PCD and it wants a s/w update

Picked up a new X5 Wednesday at PCD and when I pulled into the garage last night it was already telling me it needed a s/w update…… Oh well, I guess I’ll get to see how that goes. I’ll make sure I put it on a charger before initiating the update.

I didn't want to perform the update before the holiday weekend (in case things went sideways) so I did it Monday with the car outside the garage. Put the car on my 10A charger and started the update. No issues. Was updated from 11/2023.64 to 11/2023.73, installation time apx 15 min.

Hope all future updates go as smoothly.

I’ve had 3 updates since August 2023 and all were without issues. Probably no need to put it on a charger.

Abundance of caution.
There have been a couple instances I’ve read of cars bricking after an attempted update so I also pulled the car out of the garage when I do it too (in case it needs to be towed).
I’m superstitious about some things, I’ve found the more prepared for something catastrophic to happen the less likely it is to happen. I carry mini air compressors in all my cars, never needed it for mine but I have used them a couple times assisting other people.
