Black Powder Coated 740M wheels

I decided to do gloss black on the stock 20s to match the shadowline trim. I think it looks great and if you are in LA and want to get it done I can provide a reco. The cost was $650.

The only chrome on my 2020 40i was the brushed that you see on the wheels, the grill, emblems and exhaust trim. I put a black grill on, took the exhaust tips off and powder coated them black, got black emblems from IND. So literally all that is left is those damn wheels. But its my daily driver, so the time needed to pull the wheels, get the rubber off and then to powder coat requires me to find a loaner while I do all that. . I keep looking for some winter wheel/tire combo.. but have not found anything great yet, without spending a bunch.

The place I went to handled everything. Drop the car off on one day and pick it up the next. No need to deal with taking them just the wheels.

I'm sure you can find a similar option in your city.

Many rim powder coating businesses have loaner rims and tires they will let you use while yours are getting painted and remounted.

Do you have any pictures from the rear of your vehicle? Do the 20" wheels fill the fenders? Have a 50e on order and going to powdercaot wheels black, went with the 20's over the 21's because of the all season tire but concerned they will look to skinny from the rear. Thanks in advance.

My 2020 M50i came with 22" with the staggered and rears are 315/30r22. Frankly anything compared to those will look "smaller" but my 20" set I have is the 275/45r20 that I am running for Winter and they look perfect back there. I had the same size tire on my 2020 xDrive40i. Never thought they looked small, the M50i is pretty much the identical car (yeah I traded the 40i for the M50i).

The 20s ride sooo much nicer and for me since I suck at parking are way harder to curb.

For the fat tire look, you will have to buy two 10.5" 740m wheels, the US spec 50e comes with square 9.5" wheels.

You can also buy spacers. Don't have to change the wheels out.
