Production Schedule of New Orders

Do we have a thread where everyone shares their production schedule?
What is the current timeline from Production # to Completed, and then about how long to get it delivered to the dealer?

My average was always 20-25 days here in NY/NJ, but I am not sure how badly factory was affected by covid.

My fastest was 13 or 14 days, I don't know what they did, and it was a custom build with specific options. I think he pushed it through to get it quicker so we can pick up before end of the month, because he asked me to take delivery, in return I made him pay half of my lease payment on my last BMW.

I am really hoping I don't have to extend my current lease.
Do dealers ever offer a loaner if vehicle is expected to arrive within a week or so and we have to return our current lease?

We entered my order September 2nd. Received production number that day. Delivered to the dealer yesterday, September 30th. It was ready for transport couple days before then.

There isn't an "official" order tracking thread. Plenty of threads in the general G05/06 forum and Pricing, Tracking subforum.

Start a thread, which you just did, or join in another.

Placed order 9/26, received production number 9/28, status changed from order received to production scheduled on 9/30. Ordered X5 45e in DC (Silver Spring, MD dealer). I was told by my dealer that it takes 3-4 weeks normally but due to COVID it may take up to 45 days.

-you place your order
-if your dealer has a allocation they will provide you a production number(no production # no allocation)
-you get a build week (this is a estimate and can change)
-once production starts you are looking at 5-6 weeks till it hits your dealer on avg

you can get your production number and call 1 (800) 831-1117 which besides your sales rep will be the best source of up to date status.

Hi Golffrr,
I am familiar with the tracking and order process. I wanted to get an idea how long it's taking everyone these days or to see what was the average in the last 3 months. Dealer had production # immediately, but I don't know if he was able to "modify an existing order" for vehicle to go on production faster than "start from scratch" or not.

FloridaM5's experience seems to be exactly 4 weeks, which is what I am praying for. Do dealers ever offer loaners as far as you know?

xkuclone, we are about the same in terms of the order/production schedule. I am not sure if they are cranking out e's faster than i's though. Let's see how this goes.

depends on what status the build. if its started production then it can't be modified.

the fastest Ive seen so far is 5 weeks. if mine comes to our store tomorrow it will be 5 weeks 5 days. but it has been also sitting at san berdino plant for 3 days also

avg is 5-6 weeks though once it starts

I ordered a M50i on 9/11 and the dealer reconfigured an allocation that was 2 weeks out for me. As soon as he marked it as a sold customer order, the production date moved up to the following week. It came off of the assembly line on 9/26 and was shipped 10/1. Since we are only two hours from the plant, I am expecting it at the dealer today. So about 3 weeks from order to delivery for me.

I was just notified that mine is at the dealer. So it was 21 days from order to delivery.

I'm just curious where else they are built. Everything I have seen since I have been researching my purchase indicated they all come out the the Greer plant near Greenville/Spartanburg, SC.

I did some research on this a year ago and I guess there is a small amount that are assembled in mexico and russia for various security type applications. I am not 100% sure what all that means but thats what I was able to dig up. it could mean something like the X is built then sent to these plants and re assembled for such things like armor or security applications I dont know but technically this happens so I say 99%. could be more like 99.8% but I dont know the exact scope of assembled is so I just play it safe and say 99%

I received VIN from dealer on 9/29, called BMW and was told the car will be completed 10/13 (2 weeks), and expect to be at dealership in 2-3 weeks after.

Today is 10/9, it's been a week and half but I'm still seeing this status on the tracking website.

PRODUCTION BEGINS
Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue.

Did anyone else also experience slow production status update?

I know the car will get here eventually, but the wait is killing me, like everyone else lol.

Mine sat at production begins the whole time and went straight to awaiting carrier assignment. Left the factory a few days later.

How long did it sit in production for you? What was the total time to get to your dealer?

Ordered 9/14 and had a production number that day. Went into production that week. Left the factory 10/3, still not at the dealer! Hopefully today(10/9), literally waiting right now to see if the truck shows this morning so I can take delivery this afternoon.

A family member ordered a car at the same dealer on the same date. The cars left the factory together on 10/3 and his was at the dealer 10/5! Total crap shoot on the transport, but either way it's 3-4 weeks from order to delivery so nothing to complain about.

That's great! Wish I could show up at the dealer and wait. Had to order mine 200 miles away.

Congrats!

Congrats GOLFFRR! How long does it take from production begin to the dealership? Also, do you know if the car sent to NorCal will also be sitting at Ontario? It will be great if you can share your complete timeline. Thx
