Shifting in the X5M Comp

I don't know it was me but I found that it was very easy to slip into manual while in drive? I also found that when putting into reverse it seemed like it did not lock into place. I was always fearful it might slip out? maybe I was just not used to it? This was going on during my 30 min test drive. I still locked down the deal but wanted to get some feedback on this subject.

You just move the stick to the right to switch between regular drive mode and sequential/manual modes (it comes back to the middle by itself). I know what you mean about feeling like it can slip out of reverse, but it doesn't

I don't know about the new models but my F86 takes a second or so to shift and lock into reverse gear, so i'm assuming it's normal?

Do you have your shift speed on 3 bars?

The idea is if it happened before on previous models it may be the reason why it's happening on yours.

as botis1028 mentioned his solution may help you out. let us know if it does *fingers crossed*

I have had my X5M Comp since July and have around 4,000 miles as my daily driver. It has never slipped out of reverse. I have bumped it into manual mode twice by mistake but realized as the revs climbed and switched it back. I think the shifter is great and setup well. I find it very satisfying when I put it in reverse. The car is fantastic, cant wait for mods!!!
