feature new to me: shift directly from R to D

welp, we've had a X5 since 2016 and I'm just now discovering that you can 'click through' the shifter and go directly from Reverse to Drive without stopping on neutral. I first noticed you could do this on the LCI x7 and figured that was just a new thing they added. Then today as a lark I tried it on my pre-LCI g05 and it worked! I excitedly told my friend what i discovered today and he said they've had it for almost a decade. Im surprised nobody ever brought this up, or I saw any of the salesmen do it.

Anyway I figure most of you already knew but here's this post to help anyone new to the brand.

Yes it does, but those other automatics were not electronic, you had to apply effort to get it into gear. I guess I never thought the electronic shifters also had the ability to do that, and it moves so effortlessly from R to N, I never thought to apply additional pressure.

All of my automatics have worked this way and I've driven cars from manufactured in 1973 through this year.

Sort of related it always bothers me when people hold in the button and then move the gear selector to “D” before releasing the button. I’ve always pushed the button to out of Park and then just slide it down to D.
