You're being far too generous with the word "design". I can't recall such an abominable automobile in... forever. To think that BMW would tease its future with such an 'Elephant Man' inspired design (ahem) is mind-boggling.

Jesus Christ, they could've done anything with the interior given that it's a concept, yet they chose to do that?! look at the golden support beam behind the screen! WTF....

if you want to go all screen BMW, take note: https://autoweek.com/sites/default/f...?itok=xSMeXfOz

also whoever designed this monstrosity is making Bangle look like a genius.

Bangle was a genius. BMW could use him right now actually...

Agreed. Stevie wonder could have designed a better car.

So BMW shows off a CONCEPT car filled with amazing and innovative tech and people only comment on its looks... Looks that will never make it into production anyway. Did you guys even READ about the car or just looked at the pics?

Anyway, media seems very positive about the car. Lots of good PR for BMW.

Looking forward to see the evolution of this model.

Because if no one talks about how the front of it looks like an insult to a beaver, then BMW will assume everyone is ok with it and produce a toned down version of the same trash?

Also it's hard to look past such an affront to the eyes to what's under the skin.

I really hope not BMW is listening to the typical hard core BMW fan, but rather the large public. Media seems to be OK with the front, at least i haven't seen any negative comments about it yet.

But be assured, it WILL be toned down. Concepts are meant for strecthing design a bit extra further.

Seems like BMW was first to market then Tesla made it rethink strategy and timeline. This retool has cost valuable time and market share.

Personally, I want a performance BEV with few compromises, that can get 250 miles of spirited driving, hope that will be the i4, but don't know at this point. The Taycan may end up with my money and take me out of the market for at least 3 years.

I have no further desire for an ICE and I think BMW underestimated the speed of this transition for enthusiasts.

With that said, these next few EVs from BMW need to come quickly and serve as benchmarks before Tesla gets their shit together and Porsche corners the market.
First to market with what? BMW hasn't been first to market with anything related to EV or Hybrid.

He showed all the energy that is lost from the factory to the energy left getting to the wheels in both scenarios and straight electric cars (not hybrids) are actually less "energy efficient". With the consumer push for fuel economy and efficiency, electric motors are still behind the competition. Was a very interesting presentation.
Until commerical aircraft stop using jet fuel, gasoline and diesel powered cars will offer a lower total lifecycle cost to own and operate. The only driver to an EV-based automotive landscape will be a non-market based legislated mandate to get there regardless of the economic impact on society.

When BMW release the next generation(s) of cars, and they are not much more than an evolution of present designs, there will be the cry "why don't BMW do something revolutionary?

I don't think BMW can ever win, if forum opinion is to be believed.
