A/C Condensate Drain Location

In the 4 months that I have owned my X5M, even after using the A/C for an hour, I have yet to see any water/condensate dripping after I park the car in my garage. A/C operates great.
Every other vehicle that I have owned always left a small puddle after being parked, and that includes a 2019 X3 M40i. Seems strange.

Does anyone know where the drain opening is for the A/C evaporator? And have you seen it dripping?

Aaaaaa.....this may not be good. There have been a few complaints and posts where the drain lines were not properly/completely connected and the condensation was actually draining into the cabin, being absorbed by the carpet and gone un-detected until a smell was noticed. That being said, I could be wrong and maybe it was the sunroof drains instead but that smell was mold, so in either case check your carpets in the two front foot wells and keep an eye on them. I don't know where it exits the G05, probably someone will chime in with that answer.

Now that you mention it, I haven’t noticed water dripping from my car either, although I haven’t been paying particular attention. My AC is left on at all times.

I’ll be sure to pay more attention.

Thank you. I should add that I did check both front passenger footwells and they are dry.

Good, no funky smells either, right? I'm surprised no one has offered up the answer to your question yet. I know on my X3, the condensation drips behind the two front wheels about a foot or so and a little towards the middle of the car.

Anyone with a G05, where does the A/C condensation drip out at?

No odors. Just the nice aroma of the new car smell.

I've been paying attention and have not seen any dripping or small pool of water like I did for my other vehicles.

My carpet is completely dry as well with no odor.

Bob, you ever find anything?

I have a service scheduled soon and I may mention this, along with my steering wheel.

So far, I haven't seen a drop. It could be that those of us in areas with low humidity won't see any condensate dripping.

Maybe some members that are in other areas that do have high humidity, they can let us know if they have noticed their X5's dripping condensate due to A/C use.

Garage List
2024 BMW 40i  [0.00]
On both 2019 G-05's I've owned (previously a 40i and now a 50i) there is always water dripping onto the garage floor when I return from a drive. I live in Houston and obviously the A/C is always on. Perhaps yours hasn't been driven where it's humid or hot, but otherwise I would expect to see some condensation dripping.

My AC is on all of the time and while I don’t have much humidity, all of my previous cars would always drip.

I just resurrected the other thread where a few people had problems with the AC drain that caused major issues. Here’s a link to it as well.

If you can, while your car is on the lift, ask the tech to show you where the condensate drain is located?
That would narrow down the search field.
Attached are a couple images from the BMW service manual that show the condensate drain connection and the water hose.
Where the actual drain exits under car who knows.

Can anyone confirm water even pools under their V8 X5? Anyone mind looking?

Even better, can you take a picture of the pool of water with respect to the undercarriage?

I have a feeling that the drain exits the vehicle right above the transmission area and that most of it evaporates from the heat of the trans and doesn't make it to the ground.
I may jack the car up tomorrow and see if I can spot the drain tube that the diagrams above show. Thank you Auricom.

Could be. However, it’s a shame you and I are the only ones confirming water or no water under their cars.

I feel like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: Bueller...Bueller...Bueller...

Anyone with a V8 and their AC on mind looking under the car after parking and report water or no water? I agree ignorance is bliss, but it’s still good to know how it’s supposed to be.

You could just call your dealer's service center and ask them if the answer isn't forthcoming here. Tell them you saw Auricom's diagram and now you would like to know where on the ground to expect seeing it. For those in the warm humid climate areas, you could just start your car with the A/C on and not drive it so the tranny doesn't get hot and see where it drips to the ground.

That’s kind of the point of these forums is to share experiences and knowledge, educating ourselves—even if by a tiny amount—before talking to a dealership. Being somewhat knowledgeable beforehand certainly helps in these matters.

What would be the point of these forums if we all just went straight to the dealer?

I agree, forums first, dealers later, if at all.. .. but if the answer isn't forthcoming here and people are still asking, then the dealer answer can be posted here and that serves the forum community as well.

+1, agree

I don't have the garage space to jack my G05 or would have crawled under by now. And unable to renew my BMWTIS sub for some odd reason, LOL.

I happened to be looking at the attached video, and at the 0:45 mark, I see what looks like water dripping off the transmission pan corner from the condensate drain hose, wherever that actually exits the car. Looks like that is the right rear corner of the transmission pan.
