Week 51 - Pre holiday builds

I'm a week 51 build so slated for right before the factory closes for Christmas holidays.

Anyone else week 51 yet? Will be interesting to see who makes it, if get pushed back, and how shipping takes off (or doesn't) and the factory closes right there before 12/22.

My dealer told me I’d have it the last two weeks of the year. BMW Genius told me I am a week 52 build which apparently doesn't exist. That said my expectation is to be right around then. I’ll keep you posted.

Cool yeah let's see how our orders move together probably in a couple weeks. I figured both in week 51 actually with no delays, or the fall into January worst case.

My dealer told me my week 51 build could be expected by January 15th but that seems way too long now to sit after build and transit for me to TX.

My dealer made it sound like I would have it before year end which would assume they get and ship pretty quick. That said I am in the North Atlantic so maybe shipping times differ. I am still thinking mid jan at best.

For reference, my week 51 estimated build flipped to code 112 (Production Scheduled) yesterday on 11/23 Thanksgiving. Seems early but I'll take it!

I’m supposed to be week 51 also. Broker expected delivery to be end of the year, start of 2024 at the latest.

BMW My Garage tracking is down for me right now, but last I had checked it was still in order received without updates.

Edit: Tracking is back up, and I'm now at 112 "Scheduled for Production". Flipped over either yesterday or today I expect.

Any quality concerns with a holiday build?

Cool, seems we are on the same schedule timeline for sure. Based on all the previous year week 51 threads, for you/me that will have the car shipped by truck, and without all the supply issues (hopefully), seems most week 51s in 2022 got theres before Chrismas or right after even before the new year.

I'm good with that as selling my current vehicle this weekend ahead, and will be in a rental a few weeks as made financial since to do that.

Just don't look at the December year-end of 21. There were a few thousand completed vehicles waiting for carriers and it took almost a month to clear the backlog. Thankfully the carrier situation is not nearly as bad.

My dealer told me prior to year end as well. I am currently in 112 status (scheduled for production) with no production date as of yet. Have either you been given an actual date yet?

No date here yet, 112 for couple days now with no ProdDate. Definitely checking in AM/PM to see if changes daily.

You have a couple weeks yet before you get a date so save the key clicks.

I have a 50e on order and is scheduled for WW50. Kind of concerned after reading about all the issues with the expansion valve. Has this issue been sorted out?

Welcome to the forum. It seems like recent builds are not having the issue so they likely found a solution.

Does anyone here have an idea of the incentives BMW offers for December? As of now, I just qualify for a Corporate Discount of $1500.

Won't be known until next week. Nothing can be stacked with Corporate so you would have to give that up in order to get anything else. The possible exception would be an APR credit which is available, at least for some regions, on the 40i.

Thanks! I’ll hit refresh on shipping updates for all my parts instead for a week or so 😂

I did go ahead and call Genius, and they stated week 51 ends on Sat 12/30. Anything in week 51 could slip to 52 since she said they get Christmas holidays off which starts 12/31 technically, but its NY eve/day right after that so into January 2nd+ even.

In a rental so I will check in again end of year to see how long I need to extend it to it seems.

I’m now week 51 also. I was told to expect the vehicle around the 3rd week of Jan by BMW customer service. They provided me the following timeline estimates:

—> 1-2 weeks to build starting week 51 (Holiday exception)
—> train from SC to KC 2-5 days
—> another Train from KC to Oxnard, CA 2-5 days
—> vehicle inspection, install of certain items (if applicable) and software updates 2 days
—> Final train from Oxnard to Denver 2-5 days
—> Delivery to BMW denver and final inspection 1-2 days

That is funny. It never ceases to amaze me how they can just make things up so they can end the call as successful. Deliveries to Colorado go by truck not train.

Maybe, weird level of detail to tell a customer a lie though. Does seem very odd that a vehicle would go all the way to CA for inspection/updates to software and then back to CO, def not an exercise in efficient logistics.
