Remote 3D view stopped working
Last week I posted a thread praising the remote 3D view. This week it stopped working. It was working great until yesterday. I took my car to dealership to address the rear seat rattle issue. I was monitoring the car from work and remote 3d was working great. Last view showed doors are unlocked. Then it did not refresh for several hours. I thought may be car was in an area without network. I went to pick up my car and brought home. Since that time it has stopped working. I tried several times today at my clinic where it has worked great. I am not sure what happened? Did the dealer mess it up? They didnt even work on my car (reason why I brought it back).
Any suggestions how to get it back working? |

I've been trying since Feb. 19 to get mine working. Still no luck. BMW Genius Help Line says it is a problem with the phone app. I can see my X5 when I log in on my PC but not with my phone. Have everything in the vehicle set up right and have tried downloading and installing the app on my phone numerous times. Latest call to BMW tells me they are working on a fix but might take another 5-10 days. I have an Android phone on the TMobile network. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My local dealer Genius was no help.

Create a profile on iDrive and log in with the same user name and password as you do on your computer. Then you have to enable 3D viewing in car settings. It should work.

Update your apps. Reboot your iDrive. Update the Data Privacy settings to include Remote View.

I spoke with a BMW genius today after trying (with no avail) an iDrive reboot, unchecking/rechecking enable 3D remote viewing in the data privacy settings and deleting/reinstalling the bmw connected app. The BMW genius told me there is still a bug affecting remote viewing and didn't advise when BMW would issue a fix. I'm still getting an error that I don't have the correct boxes ticked in the data privacy settings to activate remote viewing (even though they are definitely ticked in iDrive). Know this is an older thread, but is anyone else still having issues connecting to remote view from the mobile app?

Absolutely. It has never worked on my phone (Galaxy Note 9, Sprint), although I did successfully get the app to leave the view of the X5 on the display floor in Munich and show me a generic X5 on a black background. The iDrive menu in the car is confusing as well - if you check THIS box in Data Privacy you would think it includes Remote View.
It doesn't: You need to select the "individual selection", THEN select Remote 3D: And I've still never gotten past "Activating camera system," although I have gotten as far as connecting to the secure server. My 3d remote view stopped working a couple of weeks ago. But I just tried it now and it works fine. I'm using iDrive 7/2019.35. I have "All services incl. analysis" set.

I'm using an iPhone running iOS 13.1.1. IDrive is running 07.2019.53 (IIRC) in a MY2019. Just bought the car a few weeks ago, and the dealer called me to upgrade the software last week. Admittedly, I'm still getting familiar with all the gadgets; however, I'm trying to avoid getting frustrated over the little things (like remote surround view) that don't work.

Well I randomly tried it again tonight, and it flippin' worked! The sun shines on the dogs butt every once and a while! Sorry, was happy and had to share it with y'all. My wife is tired of hearing about the car.

Got it to partially work - shows the left or right side, or the front. Takes forever to load, and as far as I can tell has never completed a cycle. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the mirror settings - mine are set to fold when locked, so the part where it sticks frequently - activating cameras - might be related?

I have my mirrors folded when I park too. When I go to take a remote 3d view picture I get a warning that the mirrors will unfold.
Taking a picture does seem slow but it does work. I don't think that it's the actual time it takes for the mechanics of the mirrors to work. It's probably the time it takes for the cloud and the car to converse with each other. My guess is that the cloud sends a message to the car to take a picture then it polls the car; i.e. sends messages, asking how things are going. The car replies to the poll message with the last thing it completed, like unfolding the mirror. When it finally has taken a message it replies to a poll message with the images it took. After a while, if the car doesn't respond to a poll the cloud gives up and you get an error message. This a not a fast way to make something like this work but it's a pretty simple way to do things and reasonably bullet-proof. Up until a few days ago, I could not get remote 3d views to work. Sometimes it would sort of work but produce only a partial picture and other times not at all. But starting a yesterday it seems to work just fine. Just speculation on my part, but this is one of the ways web applications implement things like this. Quote:

3D view has never worked, only shows illustrated picture. Been to dealer Genius twice with no results. Deleted and reinstalled app on iPhone, rebooted iDrive. Still no actual picture.

Update - randomly works, partially now. Takes maybe 5-10 minutes loading, ultimately gives me an error message, I can retry, and will sometimes get a picture - with the driver's side view black, but right, front and rear showing. Same on spouse's identical car, so it isn't my app, or phone, or software. Over to you, BMW....

Confirmed with BMW NA today that 3D View has a known bug, they're aware of it, working on it, no ETA on a fix

I have been using 3D view for almost 6 months and it has always worked flawlessly, I used it a few times in the last week...
it did not work initially after i picked up my car. Few days later, I deleted my profile on iDrive as well as the app and then setup everything from scratch and since then it has worked everytime... I believe there is a separate thread with details on how to setup
