parking maneuver assist
I am wondering if I could drive forward, record the maneuver, and play it back in reverse. I have a tight fit in my garage and when I try to record my reverse park maneuver, it does not work because I have to go back and forth multiple times ( I am terrible at reverse parking). I was thinking I get into the garage once with lot of difficulty and then drive out and record and play it in reverse when I want to park next time….. )

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, I thought reverse assist let's you do exactly that. You drive into your garage. Hit reverse assist and it reverses automatically up to 50m. I use the feature all the time when parking in tight spots or reversing on long winding driveways.

I did not realize I had to be in the precise spot, I assumed it activates when the car approaches the proximity circle and it could take over from there. If what you are saying is true, I agree with you, it is pretty useless

I need help… I tried recording a path, but it seems like by the time I get into my garage it stops recording probably because of poor GPS signal and does not give me the option to save path. I am not sure how to overcome this limitation…
How are you folks using this capability making it work? |

I just read about GPS repeater and they are available for about $100 that can be installed in a garage for robust GPS signal. I think this could make record path more useful. Has anyone tried a device like this?

How useful is this feature anyways? I’ve not even attempted to try it because I figured you would need to be in the exact same spot for a recorded maneuver to be successful, which I don’t think is realistic.

I'm wondering why it's so important to reverse park in the first place. I have a tight space so I just drive in front first then let the back-up assistant take over when I'm pulling out. Works every time and no stress over trying to back in (or out).

Maybe because there is a wall where the driver side door is when you pull in front first and you are too close to the wall to open the door?

How important this is in recent years with reverse cameras and sensors is a good question, though. There's a lot of people who received additional safety training who do this out of habit even if the need has possible gone away. |

You need to be close, but it doesn’t need to be exactly. If you’re close enough to the original staring position, the car will steer its way into the recorded path. Last edited by Giggler; 09-15-2023 at 09:55 AM.. |
