This lands on my list at #7932 of things to worry/complain about. Fortunately, I am only on #42 right now and this X5 will be LONG gone by the time I get to #7932.

All brands are different, we won't go into how Mercedes doesn't use full leather know their seats which is worse than plastic switches

But at least the switches still light up in orange....always liked that about BMW. My first M3 ('97 E36) was great "cockpit" at night.

Yea I am not trying to defend MB by any means. But window switch is one of the mostly touched areas of a car so having premium material there makes a difference. I wish at least it was part of the premium package

Will be awesome if we can fit X7s. From photos they look identical except the material.

I actually prefer high quality plastics over metal for things like window switches, buttons, and controls. Car interiors are exposed to extreme heat and cold and I can see all the stylish metal in the X7 being a nuisance when they happily conduct temperatures to your fingers and skin. Ever dealt with a really hot seat belt buckle?
If the finish on the plastic and mechanism itself is high quality, not an issue |

I definitely had this complaint when I was going from my 550i to a Mercedes C class. This time around it's less of an issue to me. Let's see how they stand up overtime.

Nice! Was just looking at pictures of an E46 ZHP 330ci coupe I used to have. Love that BMW orange glow at night!

Audi Q8 not offering leather on the upper and lower doors is much worse in terms of cutting corners. I had a chance for the second time to view the GO5 up close yesterday and while this particular model was only in base form was still very impressed with the new interior. Huge step forward in the luxury department imo.

as someone with a $100k X5 50i it's not a big deal. Why complain about something so trivial?

While it looks upscale, it's eventually it's gonna get scratched and look like crap.
