It is not a dealer warranty, it is a BMWFS Extended Service contract so the work can be performed at any dealer.

First off you can buy your BMW Factory Extended warranty at any dealer and they all must honor it. Someone mentioned getting the 7/75 warranty for $3850. Was this the Platinum or Gold? What dealer provided this price? Has anyone done better?

Welcome to the forum. BMW Extended Service Contract.

The ones we were talking about pricing on were Platinum. Here are a few sources for you: Jeff Steel at jeff.steel@passportauto.com, Daniel Kim at dkim@saffordauto.com and Christine from GOLFFRR 's place at cnewman@stevethomasbmw.com.

I briefly read through this thread and I wanted to make sure there is a little info posted so you all are aware.

When it comes to insurance programs/binders make sure you have in your policy that any replacement parts/needs are "brand new bmw OEM parts" otherwise BMW may/likley will not honor/void your warranty claims down the line.

the reason is BMW warrants its own factory parts, most insurance companies such as the cut rate ones will force you to use re furbished parts from their recommended shops. This happens all the time so be aware. I wont go into too much detail and thread jack OP thread but just want to make sure everyone is aware of this so if a situation comes up and you have a accident etc.. and you need to have parts replaced and you make a claim through your insurance you are aware.

There is a reason cut rate insurance companies are cheaper, this is just one of the many which I wont get into but wanted you all to be aware.

Lastly,
-yes you can buy a BMW factory warranty from any BMW dealer. (US only obv)
-you can only buy the programs before the factory warranty expires (there are a few very small situation where you can after but its on a case by case situation and not something I would risk if you plan on buying after factory plans)
-you can only buy wheel and tire programs when you sign at purchase. once you drive the car off the lot you are no longer able to buy these plans.
-3rd party plans are not BMW plans, they are their own plans, and will need to be run through and handled through them and not through BMW.

Good point about the OEM parts, but why would that matter during the BMW original warranty period? For any warranty claims during the first 4 years, one is not likely to use the insurance program, instead the manufacturer warranty isn't it.

I understand that for years 5-7 the insurance add-ons may only cover non-OEM parts whereas the BMW one will be brand new OEM

You are misunderstanding, he is talking about repairs done for accidents.

Is the Tire and Wheel Protection package something that can be ordered from any BMW dealership or must it be purchased at the dealership when the car is purchased?

It must be purchased at time of delivery.

Ben from BMW sells ones that can be bought anytime.. just can't make claims within first 30 days to prevent buying it for pre existing conditions.

If you say for example hit a deer, something in the engine or drive train is damaged and needs replacing. Cut rate insurance companies will dial you in with a third party refurbished part, not a brand new BMW OEM part bc the cost is a lot higher for the insurance company. So now you have a refurbished part and not a brand new BMW OEM part. So if anything comes up after that install is in place BMW will not warranty the cost bc its not their part, they have only warranty their parts bc they are in control of that part if that makes sense.

so you will be up the stream without a paddle and will have to deal with that with your insurance company bc BMW only warranties their parts.

again I am not talking about a warranty issue, im talking about a insurance issue, I was just stating a side note so people know. Sometimes if you just get your insurance company on the line and have them in writing agree to only replace any parts with brand new BMW OEM parts from a dealer you will be good to go, but you will see when you do that you will get kick back or your premiums will go way up. The cut rate guys want you to goto their shops and buy their parts and not goto BMW dealers and buy BMW parts bc obv its a lot more of a cost to them.

correct like I stated above. You can't buy wheel and tire from BMW once you leave the lot. BMW does not offer anything after you leave the lot.

TurtleBoy, Which dealership offered that price? Do you think that is a price that others can take advantage of? The 'discounted' pricing I received was almost $2K more than than your quote. Maybe you quote is years old and prices may have gone up.

Amen, same question. Just took delivery today of x5 45e. I am considering the 84/75K Platinum with either a $0 or $250 deductible. What did you get for $3850? What dealership?

That quote was done earlier this year. I would check with the three I mentioned above: Jeff Steel at jeff.steel@passportauto.com, Daniel Kim CADK at dkim@saffordauto.com and Christine from GOLFFRR 's place at cnewman@stevethomasbmw.com.

I'm guessing the warranty on a 45e costs a lot more than a non-PHEV do the potential expense of replacing the batteries.

My question is: how do I even know these people always referred to in this forum (Christine and Daniel Kim) even offering a "deep discount". I think they offering standard rate and this forum just constantly promoting them.

It should not as the BMW standard warranty for the x45e battery system in the US is already 8 years/80,000 miles.

why dont you just email my gal Christine and then compare the quote with someone else if we earn your business great, if not thats ok also.. win some lose some, good thing for you is you can shop around which is nice that BMW allows that

I dont pay anyone on this forum to promote our dealership, people who promote our prices are doing so bc they have had a good experience and want to pass that on to their fellow community members.

Keep in mind, BMW is constantly changing pricing on plans, its always been this way unfortunately, its dependent on a variety of things. We always maintain the same % over cost no matter the increase in the cost. Just easier that way for us.

if you want to get a quote you can follow the info in the first post here:
