Definitely some luck, and to the audit risk and I'll be planning for it ahead!

I am a bit confused why x5e won’t qualify for credit next year? It is made and assembled in USA. There is a income requirement, but also the rebate in 2023 is not tax rebate but at point of sale (the rebate is deducted from price of vehicle).

It won't meet either of the battery requirements. Your understanding of the credit is not correct. It will still be a tax credit and not a rebate at point of sale in 2023. Starting in 2024 consumers will have the option to get the credit deducted from the vehicle purchase price at point of sale or take it as a credit on their taxes.

there is a new battery materials requirement and it won't meet that. I honestly think when they wrote the law they didn't know its full effects.
Maybe it will change, but the 45e does not qualify from what I've read.

I really hope they will delay it. Many other laws that been signed are delayed for a year. I just don’t know what cars will qualify in 2023.

Not a chance it will be delayed.

Should I consider canceling the order and get my 2k back if the vehicle comes after January? On one hand I only ordered x5e due to rebate, otherwise there are many other options (GLE, Cayenne, x5)

what week are you ? Week 50 ? If you get a production date actually in the 2nd week of Dec, it is my opinion (and I'm not perfect) that you will get your car by the end of the year. You will know in a week or so if you get a production date. You can wait til then.
You will have to make sure your dealer will accommodate you by opening during the holidays and accept and prep the car. By being in Fla your car is only a day's drive away once it leaves the factory.

It's your call.

I was week 48 for a while and two weeks ago it moved. Now apparently week 51.

I guess I am curious if people think the x5e is worth the price without the rebate?

Effectively all cars next year have no rebate (broad strokes, but not far off). So the question is just do you want a hybrid, and do you want a BMW (and are you buying a new vehicle in the next couple years).

For me the answer is yes and the venn diagram of my wants only has the 45e in it. 30+ miles electric gets me to work and back every day on electric. And 6000 lbs of towing let's me throw a race car on a trailer and go places. Most of the competition hybrids are 4500 or less on towing.

Wow you’re the first wk51 I’ve seen. So I guess that means bmw won’t be shutting down the factory for a full 2 weeks during holidays.

Makes me hopeful of those on wk50 like me. Now just have to hope carriers aren’t taking off as well as dealership.

Only you can make that decision. If the $7,500 was the overriding factor then you may want to. If you want to get a vehicle that is regarded as one if the best of its type out there and the overwhelming majority feel is worth the MSRP without the rebate then don't.

The third option though would be to make an agreement with your dealer that of it doesn't arrive before the end of the year your deposit be comes non-refundable.

I'm convinced they know we need these before Jan 1 so they're moving up the west coast orders and pushing back the east coast orders. If you go back through the 46-48 week threads you'll see it. They know they can get that to him in FL by EOY.

They are offering factory tours through the 21st so I would imagine they will be shipping and assembling through that date and then shut down for the Holidays.

I have a dealer indicating they have allocation for a 45e in Week 50 and he believes I should be able to take delivery before the end of the year. Is that realistic?

Many factors to it of course but it should be doable as long as nothing pops up.

Well that's interesting. My local dealer also has an allocation in Week 50 but doesn't think it would show until end of Jan./Mid- Feb.

I'm 350 miles or so north of this other dealer, but seems odd.

Maybe I have nothing to lose to order. I wouldn't accept it if it didn't make it as it would make more sense to wait for a '24 if the $7.5K credit goes away.

He is way off. It only takes 2 days or so to get to Rochester.

Odd that he would talk himself out of sale by saying that. The other dealer said that trying to get PCD delivery would take longer and is likely not doable this year. I imagine that would be really difficult with the holidays.

Not odd at all, many, if not most, CA's do not understand the ordering, building and delivery processes. They just don't take the time to look at the information that BMW sends them. They have a vague idea that it is two weeks from Production Begins until it is complete. Many don't put two and two together that the Production Begins status for the X5 occurs about two weeks prior to the production date.

PCD is booked until February.

Thank you again for the info. This is very unlike Ford... we have a pending MachE order that was supposed to be built next week but all signs point to a week or two delay and no way it'll be here in '22. Hence, our looking at the 45 again. Not to mention that pricing wise the MachE is really nuts (high) compared to what you can get in the 45. Maybe this last minute scramble and change will work!
