X5 LCI 50e ordered
Just visited my local BMW and placed the order for 2024 X5 LCI 50e
Brooklyn Grey Metallic M Sport Package M Sport Professional Package Premium Package 915M 21" V-spoke Bi-color rims Supposedly productions starts April and hoping delivery is June. This will be my first hybrid, any tips? It's too bad they don't offer blacked out rims... Last edited by dyzfnctional; 02-17-2023 at 07:39 PM.. |

dyzfnctional Level 1 charging is where you plug into a standard home outlet (110/120V). I don’t know what the max amp rating the included charging cable for the 50e will be, but it will likely be 10A. any higher, owners run the risk of tripping circuit breakers as most home outlets are 15A. BMW has to provide a charging cable that has to work out of the box for everyone. when patt1289 said “14-15h from empty to full”, that’s assuming you have a dedicated 20A outlet and an upgraded third-party charging cable capable of pulling 16A. (this follows the 80% electrical code where sustained amps pulled should only be 80% of the circuit’s max amp rating. in this case, 80% of 20A is 16A. KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THIS RULE as this lack of understanding is how folks burn down their homes.) if you don’t have a dedicated 20A outlet or an upgraded Level 1 cable, you’ll only be pulling 10A with the included cable, so it’ll take closer to 24h (assuming ~28kWh needed to replenish the 25.7kWh capacity) Level 2 charging is where you have a dedicated 220/240V circuit. doubling the voltage cuts the charging time in half given the same amperage. for example: 16A @ 120V will take ~11h to charge the 45e's 17.1kWh battery 16A @ 240V will take ~5.5h to charge the 45e's 17.1kWh battery. the 50e will have a 25.7kWh battery and a 7.4kW on-board charger which is capable of going to 32A, so charging from empty will take ~4h regarding your rims, you may consider getting them powder coated Last edited by nZtiZia; 02-17-2023 at 09:39 AM.. |

look into Level 2 charger, not only you get federal tax credit for the installation fee, some local energy provider may offer rebate or other incentives. truly worth it.

thanks all for the helpful suggestions. I am thinking I'll mostly charge in public which might take some time as well, however might work out since I could have it charge while im at work. I think BMW offers 2 years of free charge at certain stations. Charging at the public stations would take about 5hrs to fully charge I'm assuming... or depending on the charge station.
I also contacted my my sales rep to include M sport professional package since I really like the extended shadow line trim and some other goodies. Not sure what the 33B M sport Package Pro is tho. |

I just ordered my X5 x550e as well yesterday. i got the 740 wheel and tires. I live in Chicago. Can someone comment on getting the 21 inch wheels with perfomance run-flats? any issue with winter driving? thanks in advance!

The performance run flats are not designed for winter driving. You want all-seasons, either RFTs or non-RFTs. Also check which tires BMW is putting on there as many summer performance tires are not supposed to be driven in temps below 40 degrees.

after purchasing the second JB40, i originally purchased the NeoCharge splitter, but nixed it for a few reasons, mainly because it didn't allow for simultaneous charging of our two PHEVs. i ended up getting a UL listed NEMA 14-50 splitter. if your extension cord has been safe with RV use, it's possibly safe for split-EVSE use, but i can't say for certain since i don't know its specs, so check those first. a setup with sequential charging allows the i4 to charge at full 40A since it'll have exclusive use of the circuit while it's charging, then the 50e will have 32A available when it's its turn to charge. if you go for a simultaneous charging setup, the amperages for either vehicle can vary to your discretion as long as they don't total more than 40A (20-20, 8-32, 16-14, etc) Last edited by nZtiZia; 02-18-2023 at 12:35 PM.. |

as mentioned, "performance" means they're rated for Summer conditions. the configurator isn't clear on this. i took delivery of mine in Dec and was frantically searching for 21" all-season RFTs the following month because we were hitting 30-40ºF temps. due to their non-existence, i downsized to a square 20" setup which was advantageous in more ways than one

Do a quick YouTube search on people driving with performance tires in the winter. You’ll want an all-season or a second set of wheels with snow tires that you can utilize in the winter.

When you guys ordered. Did you have to go in? I was told I'm the first one and only one who wants it so first allocation goes to me.

It depends on the dealer but usually you don't have to go in to order (or purchase for that matter). People buy from dealers all over the country. My X5 I went in and on my M340i I did everything by email.
