I daily drive my G05 without the box, and no wind noise.

Got my Thule Motion XT Large
Got this in South Korea. A little more expensive than what I would pay in the USA but I aint leaving here for another year.

I wasn't able to find a photo of a Thule Motion XT in XXL on an X5 before I purchased mine. Here's the fit.

RGSport, from your pic, looks like I have the same set up as you in terms of rim set up. I am assuming you have spacers. Can I ask what size of spacers you have up front and rear? Looking for the same flush look that you have on the pic on my 20 inch square set up. Thanks in advance. |

Here's my motion XL. I went with the factory bars. Minimal wind nose with bars and box.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend the roof rack set up for the Motion XL cargo box only, I am looking for non-oem options. Is the Wing Evo Bars the top choice for reduced wind noise or does someone have a better setup. I have read all the threads here and have seen conflicting results and not sure which bars should purchase. |

the location we mounted them is similar to RGSport's photos, but we try to put the cargo box as far back as possible to limit the wind noise. without the cargo box and just the bar, wind noise is minimal. |

Just ordered the Wingbar Edge racks...as others have said, they look better than the OEM racks. Also have ski rack coming, hopefully they arrive before a trip we have planned for President's Day Wkend. Will post pics when they arrive.

Does the Aeroblade Edge system have lower profile than the Wingbar Edge system? I can't tell from photos.
Also, does the Aeroblade Edge system allow you to tilt/open sunroof fully? |

I found your post via the Search function, hoping you can help me. I have a BMW X5 G05 and one of my biggest concerns in buying the THULE MOTION XT ALPINE box, is that the general rule for the roofboxes is that you should not drive faster than 80MPH / 130KMH. I regularly do long drives across Germany and my average speed is usually 150-160KMH, if weather and traffic allow of course. I'm considering the ALPINE version (i.e. more streamlined sporty roofbox of Thule) and only putting in light stuff like clothes, pillows, ... Probably never more than 40-50KG in total (vs the 75KG allowed). What is your experience with it? Thank you M |

Michachael I've driven at that speed for short bursts, many many times, with the roof box on with no issues. I regularly cruise 140-145kmh. I've never had an issue, but I guess one would not have an issue...that is until they do...ha! I don't know what the point of failure would be; I suppose the plastic base could fail across several points and rip off; but it would take a lot of pressure.
If possible, have a look at one in person, they are pretty streamlined which cut back on capacity quite a bit...but looks good and works well for us. Good luck. Quote:
