Seems like option 1 is more of a highway cruiser, chill and drive kinda package. Option 2 seems more like a fun, driver's oriented package.
Option 2 would therefore seem to be much more desirable amongst most of us in this forum, myself included. Haven't heard the sound difference, but I would go for #2 for the V8 sound alone

Option 2 is a better 'value' if you're looking at retail pricing. You're still looking at ~$6k to upgrade to the V8. These days, I'd be hard pressed to justify it. The 6-banger is no slouch, cheaper to run and maintain.
OTOH, Option 1 has DAP, HK, and the hitch. That's about $2500 of value that Option 2 is missing. In my case, I'd get a whole lot more value out of DAP and HK than the extra power (and fuel consumption) of the V8. And the hitch is nice to have. Personally, I'd go with Option 1.

M50’s hold their value better. Not as many out there. Single owner, used m50’s are in demand. This is purely my observation having searched for one myself. Did not find one good deal to be had. Don’t see that demand going away anytime soon. I test drove a 50, those machines are awesome.

I’d go with #1 because I like the options and color better and I’ve never found the V8 to be a very good value considering all of the powertrain options will get you from 0-100 with less than a one second difference. I haul my kids around in mine, I don’t track it.

how long will the ownership be?
#1 is a more practical choice, DAP, hitch, better MPG, and long term more reliable #2 seems more attractive deal, only $6k more and you get V8. I will probably go with this if I don't plane to keep the car for too long.

Basically Dravit grey (this color is rare) + v8 vs DAP + some comfort access things. I bet you already knew the answer. Option 2.

I’ve got another m50 maybe in the picture here. No DAP but massage, merino, carbon black , tow hitch. So narrowed the gap in features. tBD.
I’ve been trying to convince myself for weeks the 40 is enough. But I’m swapping out of an m550 bc I can’t stay in a sedan. Sooo it’s very hard to go to the base 40 from non base. I 100% know the 40 is enough. I was the first to stay the m550 is more than enough… but still… why wouldn’t you want that power on tap / a bit of extra special factor. |

If you're buying (vs lease), I'd have to imagine an M50i w/o DAP+ would be a dud on the used car market (you will eventually have to sell it).
Use your brain, not your heart when it comes to vehicle decisions. My advice: Neither of your options will make you happy. Find an M50i w/ DAP+, and then work a deal. |

Not necessarily price, but desirability could be less among the pool of M50is available at the time. It'd be especially annoying if you try to sell on your own, but if trading in, perhaps less irksome.

Historically options has very little effect on resale value, it is mainly based on age, mileage and condition.
