"Get Ready for the Encore"
I got an email from BMW of NA pushing 'Get Ready for the Encore'.
I do have a list of queries, most of which are software related for my session one week from today. The email pointed me to their 'genius' app. The app is very simple and includes a lot of videos none of which I can get to work. Fortunately, the email does send me to a batch of X5 videos that have some value at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...a_pj3LgGVNESLw How did the 'encore' go for those who have done this already?

On the day of delivery, my CA told me about the 'Encore'. However, today the official email came from BMW/NA.
I think this is primarily to go over software issues and get another full tank of gas.

Thanks. I just searched my emails and I did get a welcome to your new X5 email and the encore thing was in there. Lol, problem is at this point I know more than the dealership "geniuses"... I had one ask me the day after I got it what a button was on the steering wheel, which was the mode button to switch between ACC and Assisted Driving. He said that he had a customer ask him and now he can get back to that person. They mostly fumbled around and I didn't get much out of it, unfortunately.

I never spent a minute with anyone at the dealership, I set it all up myself. A free tank of gas would be nice though, the v8 is thirsty!

11.4 mpg currently with my wife doing most of the driving so I suspect I'm bringing down that average.

I had deactivated steering intervention but when I pushed what I thought was the ACC button - steering wheel, car, lanes symbols - it brought back the steering intervention. So what steps do I take to make certain my profile is not changed when using those buttons? That is, is there a particular sequence involving the mode button?

I find the Lane Keep Assist does a decent job, but on the Oklahoma roads there are many places without lane markers (particularly bridges) and it alerts me to take the wheel in those sections within a second or two because the system is unsure of what's coming up next (at 85 mph that comes quickly). My understanding is you get a longer hands off the wheel time at speeds less than 55 mph (but maybe above 35 mph?). |

Okay, so you first select the mode button to make this distinction then the next button to fully engage?

I haven't used the Mode button (right) since I first enabled Lane Keep Assist, so that's my experience. |

I finally figured out how to open the trunk hands free at the encore. Mystifying!

The "encore" is basically a second delivery. It is soo much to do in one sitting and most people just want to get in their new car and go, so we suggest a second delivery with the genius.

You have to wave your foot/leg past the middle sensor twice.

Side to side or back to front? I thought I tried both but maybe not.

I imitate kicking a football and go up under the very center of the vehicle.

The X5 our first BMW, but funny to read some of the comments from the BMW faithful. Remote Start! Hands free tailgate! This is stuff that is standard on my Ford SUV and has been mainstream for other manufacturers for 5-10+ years.

The BMW lag in the X5 has become increasingly problematic but G05 is a step in the right direction.
