Well, I reached out to BimmerCode and they said this screen is not possible because it’s on a completely different software. That’s too bad as this layout is a lot better than the original imo.

You can ask them directly by sending an email to: info@bimmercode.app.

They responded to my inquiry within a day.

The simplified graphic is nice, but I don't understand duplication of tach. Seems addition of boost gauge and oil pressure (or oil temp) would be more appropriate for a "performance" version.

Yeah, if you look closely at this image, there is additional information that is shown on the outside of the center tach. It’s just not shown on the large image. While I don’t know what exactly can be shown on the sides, it appears there’s a drive mode setting and I can’t tell on the other side, so it seems configurable. Someone from the X5M forum might be able to clarify.

my aussie spec x5m has this feature when in sport mode or track mode. it just disables the assistance options on the screen so you get engine data only, HU changes also

My buddy who drives a Volvo uses a water bottle wedged in his steering wheel. I've also seen stress balls used in the same manor.

**Legal disclaimer ** you should always keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times no matter what.

That won't work for BMW HOD.

BMW HOD uses capacitive resistance detectors similar to an iPad screen, and not torque resistance. While it can be defeated its dangerous, except in stop/start traffic, as you soon become detached from the driving experience.

On highways, the X5, with advanced driving systems unlocked, can pretty much drive itself, with just a turn signal required to change lanes. aSLA constantly adjusts the speed and foresight can handle most scenarios 2 or 3 cars ahead. If vehicles start to wander in lane it shifts back if poss or away from the other vehicle if side on. The only real issue tend to be tight bends and UK highways don't tend to have those. It even slows for exits. This is a decent level of autonomy that lures you into a false sense of security as you are safe 99.9% of the time, but then you're not!

The act of constantly touching the wheel, or even just resting a knee, keeps you engaged. Totally hands off a 70mph indefinitely, and you become a passenger.

To support this, not that basic observation and intelligence would require further support ... read all the threads of lost lane tracking and unexplained swerving onto shoulders. The assist systems work most of the time, but not all the time. It is absolutely JUST AN ASSIST and it is absolutely NOT auto/self-drive. If those drivers had been less attentive and hands off during those reported events, we would be reading their and nearby road users' obituaries instead.

Dear LexxM3 thanks to you and this post I was able to activate ADV from the Bimmercode application. But I don't know how to activate Lane Change Assistant? I don't see this option in system. Can you help me with this? Please

Just curious, how do you defeat capacitive resistance?

Hi,

Greetings! I am new to Bimmercode, does anyone know if coding option "One-touch turn signal 5 times" is available for G05? I did not see it when connecting to my car.

Cheers

Yep its in there under the Head Unit (HU_MGU) ECU as a standard configuration parameter, I've enabled it on mine.

Hi James_G0530d , thanks for your response! That's really helpful. I tried again on mine, unfortunately, I got error "cannot read code from head unit" (or something similar), I could not open up that section. I am on Android and using a Unicarscan adapted. Any idea? Thanks!

I would try a couple of things.

First try restarting your phone. Sometimes the phone needs to be rebooted after an Android S/W upgrade or after a Bimmercode S/W upgrade.

If that doesn't work, try downloading the latest version of Bimmercode from Google Store. Sometimes the auto-upgrade doesn't work properly.

Failing the above two, the only other thing I can think of is your OBD adapter. I use the OBDLink MX++ adapter - which is one of those recommended by Bimmercode. The G05 does requires a proper adapter to be able to access all ECUs properly. Reading some of the other threads, some people cant access all ECUs or features because of an older type OBD adapter.

I'm also on Android and use Bimmercode v2.25.1-6760- which is a BETA version of the App as I've signed up to be a BETA tester.

The one-touch 5-flash signal turn has been available for some time as a standard coding feature in Bimmercode, so you shouldn't need the BETA version.

Thanks again James_G0530d !

I am using Unicarscan which is the first one on the recommended adapter list. Tried uninstall / reinstall the app, did not do a magic. Sent an support request to Bimmercode with log attached, hope they can figure it out.

Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 Scanner for iOS

Hello BMW Community,

I wanted to ask if the following devices really work with bimmercode app to code my BMW X5 G05 2020, some people say it does, but the bimmercode website does not have them listed for this specific model:

- Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 Scanner for iOS & Android

Thanks a lot
