Stealth Hitch X6M F96/X5M F95 released!

The Stealth Hitch for the 2020/2021 has finally released.
I pre-ordered mine today. This is for both X6M/X5M and Competition models. I have been waiting for this to be released for a few of months. This would have been a deal breaker for me if I could not get a hitch installed (shame on BMW for not having this option in North America). I already have the BMW wire harness, combox and pollack connector My X6MC is currently on rail and enroute as of November 2nd. Not sure how long it will take to arrive in Canada at the dealer (anyone in Canada know how long this typically takes? I am in Southern Ontario). Stealth Hitch won't begin shipping for two weeks.

Richard at Stealth was fabulous to deal with. Check thier website for info.

This is great news!

Does anyone know if the American version of the 2020 X5M has the connections available that are necessary for the stealth hitch harness (at the rear of the vehicle I'm assuming.)

It should. Look at your build sheet if it says 8SL that is the option for towing pre-wire. You will still need the combox and BMW Harness if you want full functionality. The Stealth hitch electric harness does not allow the idrive to communicate. You will have lights function, but you can't program trailer mode without the BMW harness and combox.

I just need a hitch for a bike rack - assuming none of those parts will be needed since I don't plan to tow?

I just checked my build sheet and it doesn't have 8SL. Is this something the dealer can install after delivery?

Where do you get the combox and BMW Harness?

No dealer can't install 8SL, this is a factory part. I think it is basically a pigtail from the lights to connect part of the wire harness to. Control Module and harness from Dealer, if available. BMW pulled the parts from USA a couple months back.

This is what you would need :

63-11-5-A05-6D0 AAA CONTROL

51-12-7-425-457 3C20G02 GASKET (optional you can use the existing one from the bumper beam when it is removed)

61-13-6-840-334 3C20E14 POLLAK (optional you can get a normal Pollack 7/4 way connector from amazon for 20 bucks)

61-12-9-834-453 AAA WIRING

If you plan not to tow than yes all you would need is a hitch and receiver. Plus some patience when the PDC sensors scream at you everytime you reverse

Thanks denaliman!

I'm wondering if the stealthhitch trailer option negates the need for some of the parts you listed.

The product page shows that it comes with:

Wiring harness
7-way connector and mounting brackets
7-way to 4-way adapter

Stealthhitch Link for 2020 X5M

Like I said...if you want full functionality, PDC in the rear off, trailer mode stability then you need the module and OEM harness. If you care nothing about that and are OK with splicing into your existing wiring then the Stealth wire harness will do. I don't know what that would do to your warranty should anything go wrong. I can tell you I have the Execuhitch installed in my E71 X6M with no problems and I do not have the BMW harness, but if I have a bike rack attached and reverse the PDC sensors constantly alert.

Is it possible to turn off the sensors when you have the rack on on the new x5m?

Still waiting for Stealth to ship the hitch. Anyone else waiting for X6M/X5M? Have you talked to Stealth and any info on when they will ship? I have emailed them twice, but no response.

Has anyone installed it yet? Any feedback on sensors when carrying bikes?

Haha. Mine arrived last week and is in my garage awaiting my delivery in March. So delivered? Yes. Installed? No. Not much good to you probably. But I did have it on my F97 as well using their supplied harness. The factory sensors did complain an awful lot whenever I towed something. I spoke with an engineer at stealth hitch who says they're supposed to fit an F95 in February and will test modules. I will need a solution for those sensors. It was a PITA without them.
