I've tried more top rated waxes than I can remember at this point and can tell you that nothing shines and lasts better than S100 Carnauba wax. Adams detail spray(pink stuff) works great for a waterless wash and yields a high shine. It also works great on granite counter tops. Wet rag with hot water on the interior works perfect as all the leather we have now is coated and needs no fancy high priced leather cleaner/treatments which are a waste of money at this point. Meguires wheel cleaner and tire spray work great together on both the wheels and tires.

That could very well be. I'm sure someone here on this forum will know for certain. I have been told numerous times that all automotive leathers are now coated in some way but I would not bet my life on it. I'd be interested to hear the answer to this.

Sonax, Lexol (good at removing smudges on Ivory Merino), BMW leather care is also great: Merino Leather Care https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1567357 There's a lot more threads on leather care but the above is the most recent. I used Gyeon LeatherShield (reapply every 6 or 12 months depending on use) and daily/weekly cleaning with Sonax or BMW leather care wipes.

It's a pretty vague question. The biggest way you can make or break your car's finish is how you wash/dry it. That's where 90% of swirls come from.
Safe: 2 bucket method, dedicated microfiber mitts (one for wheels only, two+ for body only), and contactless drying when possible (otherwise a microfiber drying towel). Not safe: Using one bucket of water and/or one mitt to wash the wheels and body -or- automatic car washes. Only clay if it's absolutely necessary. Clay WILL mar the paint. Otherwise try to get away with chemical decontamination: tar remover and an iron remover. For a LSP (last step product) your best bang for the buck is going to be a paint sealant. I'd suggest Jescar Power Lock+, Turtle Wax Seal and Shine (ignore the brand, it's a serious product), or 303 Graphene Nano Spray. If you want to step it up from there you could look into real ceramic coating but since those are semi-permanent coatings you really need the paint corrected (polished) before you apply something like that and lock in whatever's underneath. For this type of product I'd suggest CarPro Cquartz Lite for someone without much experience with coatings.

Edit: After doing some more research the information regarding no treatments must apply to the manufacturing process and not the care of the leather. While there are many articles out there saying that you do not need to use conditioner on modern leather seats that seems to apply to the lower grades of leather that are coated. I found a BMWBlog article that specifically state that Merino should be conditioned.
https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/06/01/h...e-bmw-leather/ This was posted awhile ago on another forum. It is from some marketing materials. It looks like the best is to not treat Merino with any products. I have seen a number of folks recommend just dusting with a microfiber and spot cleaning when needed.

Pretty sure that men who are not harnessed by a spouses tastes or not in need of the softest, cushy, sumptuous leather and other associated soft ball options are far from an "extreme minority". You can bet your ass and the farm on that one. Its your vehicle and your money, enjoy what you will my friend. I absolutely love mine without any of the fluff. |

Rodrick I think you are correct. I found a bunch of articles saying that you don't need to use conditioner on modern leather seats but looking into the details a bit more that seems to apply to the lesser leathers and not Nappa and Merino. I found a couple of BMWBlog articles that specifically state that Merino should be conditioned.
I'm going to update my previous post.

Well, I don’t know much about leather but it would seem to me that the opposite would be true. The more a leather is treated and coated, the less maintenance it requires. I believe merino leather is ‘lightly’ coated not uncoated which would likely be reckless on a heavily used car seat. I tend to think vacuuming to remove debris is very important and then either periodically using either a moist microfiber or very mild leather cleaner to remove oil and dirt/dye buildups. Then a good, non greasy mate leather conditioner/milk to moisturize and UV protect the leather. This, especially for lightly treated leathers. But, again, just going by some internet research. I’m not a leather expert by any stretch. |

The author of the BMWBlog article I linked above recommends the Swissvax leather cleaner and Swissvax Milk for conditioning.
