2021 x5m comp build thread
Hello,
I am back in a new BMW. For those that remember my f80 - https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1211089 ... I just picked up a 2021 x5m competition to join my 2018 fbo bagged carrera T and 1990 s54 swapped bagged 325i. I need help. Things I am considering: Lower -
Looks -
Speed -
From there, I have been told the car is pretty efficient. I dont plan on doing aftermarket turbos. Any other suggestions that increase power? jb Follow me on Instagram @jbbrock2 and @feeels30 |

I drove a friend's Escalade a few years back that had 24 inch wheels. I cannot stress enough how much of a bad idea that would be. The ride quality, even with the Cady's air suspension, was bad on an other-worldly level, at least on the streets of Atlanta.
Given that the X5MC already has a fairly stiff ride on 22s, I have to imagine 24 would be a back breaker on anything but the smoothest pavement. |

Definitely no need to go over 22s especially if you’re looking for performance gains. I’d probably do a custom set of 21s myself.
MY21s are not possible to flash. I still don’t know if piggybacks would even work. I’ve been given a bunch of contradictory statements on the subject Has anyone here successfully used a RC or JB4 on a MY21 f95/96????????? Please report |

Once you find your lowering solution the stock wheels will appear much larger. It's the massive wheel gap that causes the wheels to look small

24's are a bit much IMO.. the vehicles are already heavy as it is and I'm sure we all know more load means a possibility of things breaking. Weight + going fast = no no but that's just my opinion.
Nothing bigger than 21" is my personal preference but I think if you can get a set of lightweight 22's or even 23's since you want to go up in size that should be fine. Good luck with the build can't wait to see the final results.

appreciate all of the comments! Thanks.
Still trying to figure out suspension (anyone have any direction here?)...and the tune as someone else mentioned - getting conflicting answers. My guy locally (a really really good, world renowned tuner) says he can. We shall see... |

^^ same here. I ordered my MSS kit from Ben which i highly recommend
I can't wait till he does the install on a few local X5M/X6M so he can give his thoughts on how the kit is for this platform. I want it lower and slightly softer but not to the point where it no longer handles like a M suv.

Do you know what the max adjustability is for the MSS kit? Is it height adjustable?

I do not. I'm still looking into them myself waiting for others to post more details. So far looks like a great option for sure... Maybe I just need to pull the trigger and get them..

Just did the first MSS install on local F96 X6MC.
So far it drop about 1.25". I would say, after all settled, it should be at 1.5".

But the rake is already the same as stock. Rear is 13mm taller than the front. Based on my data, X6M stock height is slightly lower than X5M. Coming coming.

Looks fantastic.
Does the drop allow the wheel alignment to come back to spec? What changes to the ride do you feel? |

Thanks for this... I am hopeful something comes out that can provide ~3"+ of drop.
