That's not made by BMW so the grill could've been painted by them. a shop or IND. BMW hasn't released the black one yet

I checked with my dealership last week and they looked through their system. They didn't see it but they do expect it, just don't know when. My X5 has been ordered and should come in at the end of March. I've got time.

Definitely air suspension; look how low it is. Unless they dropped some new springs in that's not the stock ride height.

I didn't look that closely but could tell it wasn't stock steel springs therefore air or lowered

Would you ever consider plastidipping it.
I asked a body shop to paint it and that's what he suggested cause he'll have to sand away the chrome to apply the paint.

What is wrong with the factories in China, they usually have a selection of new iPhone cases for sale before the new iPhones are even released.

They're really slacking on this one.

Platidip is fine, it just will never look as good as a painted glossy black grill. I plastidipped the grill on my F10, then added a bunch of "glossifier" to it and it still looked new 4 years later. It just doesn't have the shine of a painted one.

The biggest challenge with the G05 grill is that majority of it is chrome. That makes it hard for paint to adhere to and doesn't chip or crack off.

I tried the spray paint route, and it didn't turn out well. I then had a local shop paint it but they had to strip everything down and re-sand all the chrome pieces. It still doesn't look 100%, but it's pretty good, good enough for me.

And just give the Chinese market a few months. They'll soon flood ebay with painted aftermarket grills for the g05.

Ya I just got off the line with a wholesaler in China and he didn't know there's a demand for this grill in North Murica. Seems like they don't do their research on new BMW models. But he said they a model now and are making the mould and they should have it by April. But who knows...

My painter guy said the same thing about the process.

I watched a vid about the glossifier sprayed on top of the plastidip and the glossifier makes the plastidip very hard and not rubbery anymore and very difficult to remove afterwards leaving tiny bits of plastidip behind. And ya it doesn't really look that glossy either. It would need something like a few layers of clear coat.

I'm thinking of covering it with electric tape until aftermarket ones come out.

You can always wrap it with some CF vinyl. I did that to the grill on my C63 and it looked great.

I'll take some pics of my X5's grill this weekend.

Can't wait until there is a reasonably priced option! I would just grab 20 bucks of vinyl off amazon or ebay before I used electrical tape.

Also, my opinion of plastidip is that it is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist - just either do it right and paint something or don't.

Those tips you bought from the links from schmiedmann, do they come black gloss or did you get them painted when they arrived? Nothing in the post states the color...
