How many miles on your car when delivered?

Mine was in QC for a week, think they were taking it to lunch or something - came with 35 miles on it - seems like a lot, I think my last one was like like 3 when it was delivered.

It does seem excessive for BMW Center PDI miles. I believe the standard per BMW NA used to be 8-12 miles applied via the BMW Tech during the PDI test drive.

I had 16 which included my own test drive of maybe 5 miles.

Did you look at your actual odometer on delivery? Or are you going by what BMW Peabody wrote on the Odometer disclosure statement? BMW Peabody wrote in "35 miles" on my Odometer disclosure - a number I think they write as standard.

Mine actually came to me on delivery day with 17 miles on it (this, after the 3.5 mile drive from the drop off facility on Centennial Drive to the Andover St facility and after they test drove it post the B661518 recall (I saw them coming back from that drive when I went to sign papers) and after they drove it back to Centennial to get it inspected/stickered).

Regardless, I know it probably came to Centennial or was setup at the Andover St dealership with 10 miles on it. How? When the dealer sets up/enables your X5 for the first time, I believe it resets the trip data (aka "Individual"). If you haven't reset "Individual" trip data, it will display milage from the date your vehicle was "turned on" at the dealer...

See my picture below. If you press the top button on the turn signal, you can cycle to see A) Total Vehicle Miles: 41 miles and B) Individual Miles: 31miles (miles added since the vehicle was turned on by the dealer). A-B = the mileage your vehicle was likely delivered to the dealer with.

You can actually see the date that your "Individual" miles started by navigating to: Car > Driving Information > Trip Data. My date was two days before I took delivery - the day after it was delivered to the dealer.

I'll add - I know my truck went from Centennial Dr to Andover St for prep and back to Centennial to get inspected. That alone is 10 miles...

Maybe you are right about the paperwork, I didn’t look last night so not sure what was on it exactly besides what they wrote on the paperwork and now driven it all day so will be hard to tell.

That's my bet. Just toggle to the same screen in my picture above. It will tell you total miles and miles since "individual". Go to the Trip data screen and it will tell you when "individual" odometer was last reset. Likely on Sat or Monday... So the difference between the two will tell you what the milage was when BMW peabody reset it on that date.

For those wondering what the hell I'm blathering about, RKR and I purchased from the same dealer... Our dealer puts pre-delivery miles on our trucks going back and forth to their off-site delivery facility - to the dealer - and back to the delivery facility for State reg...

Sort of off topic but I used to live very close to Peabody, such a small world. My wife is also from the area even though we live no where near MA currently.

That’s a good point, other than turning it off and on, how else can you show the odometer? Every year I have to give a odometer reading for registration.

Somewhat related and something I always wondered - who puts the first fuel into the car and where does this take place and do they fill it full before turning the engine over the first time? Or do they just put a little bit in case the thing doesn't start?

The 2019 X5's Trip Settings actually track the date your X5 was last filled with gas. Mine had 12/18... two days before delivery, while it was at the dealer. If I'm BMW, I'm leaving these things with min fuel and save the shipping weight. Additionally, the fuel doesn't get old/age if the vehicle sits on the lot. Based on my X5's last fuel date - seems like the dealer fills.
