Why velve springs? Koenigsegg developed this few years ago.
You saw that too, nice.
Very few people know that.

I shouldn't say valve spring gone, it's cam and big a.. plate. ( Calls FREEVALVE camless engine ) Saves a lot weight and way more efficient. Without more to explain here is the video from the genius that developed it Christian von Koenigsegg
It's a longer video but never to long for car enthusiast

Whether it will literally be a longitudinal version of that exact engine or a new version with more power or perhaps other features such as 48V mild hybrid remains unknown. It will not arrive until mid 2021, so details are still scarce.
Sad news for anyone holding out for whatever modest improvements to steering there are on the G42, over the F generation steering.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Next we'll hear there is no manual sub-M2 and its over.

I will have to make that decision in the F22's last year, when the G42's engine lineup is a matter of record.

I'm determined not to get another F gen car. Can't help feeling the generation represents the low point of BMW steering, and with respect to the F30's size, bloat.

This is great, and not surprising news! I have the B58 in the X3 m40i, and it is AWESOME. Fantastic engine.

Must have some finely tuned piston-return springs in there.

Just remember your blinker fluid!

this engine really pulls strong and it reminds me of old school bmw I6 motors..

It is wierd to me that no matter how warm the engine is itt seems to always do a cold start cycle when first started
