F'ed over by the dealer?

Just got picked up the X5. We purchased the car and plan to keep it for a long time.

We purchased the Ultimate Care + 2 plan. This covers routine maintenance + brakes for 5 years, 75k miles.

The dealer charged us $3,419. Now I go online at https://bmwusaservice.com/ultimatecare and see it should of cost $2,099 for the X5?

I figured I must be missing something and that a dealer wouldn't blatantly try to F customers over so bad on openly published pricing. Hopefully, I'm missing something because I'm pissed right now.

Luckily we paid 5K of the car on AMEX, so I'm covered if they indeed screwed us over and won't make it right.

Thoughts?

We don't call them $tealerships for nothing. Once you sign and drive off the lot, you're one and done. You can try taking to small claims court, but it's really up to the buyer to educated themselves in this case before diving in...

You can terminate the policy you bought at dealer and get a refund. Then rebuy through the website.

Go there on Monday and point out their 'oversight'. If they don't resolve it then dispute the charge on your Amex. No reason they should mark up the plan, I paid the same as BMW, it's a third party service with stated rates.

I guess you even can return the car within 2 days, why not the overpriced service package?

We sent the Finance manager and Sales manager an email calling out the discrepancy and asking why the difference. We'll see what they come back with - hopefully they realized they got caught and simply say sorry for the oversight and will refund the difference. If not, I'm planning to do exactly as you stated and dispute credit card charge.

When I look at that link it comes up to $2,699. The Ultimate Care+ is 600 and the +2 is 2,099. Don't know where the difference is to get it up to 3,419 but may want to verify what you think it should be.

This! 100%

Absolutely shameful dealership
I would let them at the dealership know first what your intent is and give them a chance to make it right . If they agree, make them do the work but watch what they do.

If I go to the build site, the +2 package is $2799, add $600 and you get $3399?

Are you pulling up the 2019 X5 SAV?

I am seeing $600 + $2,099 = $2,699 for the UC+ 2.

Thanks to TurtleBoy for clarifying above.

So, I'm sitting at $720 "unaccounted for"

It's not "unaccounted for" - I can account for it, it's called dealer markup.

They tried to sell 5 yrs package which means extra 2 years maintenance + 1 possibly chance of break job for around 3,700 (don't remember exact figure),

I said no.

Then he wanted to give me 7 yrs paint protection plan ($1300 something) for free on top of that.

I said no.

Finance managers always try to mark things up. As soon as you say no they start lowering the price. It's too bad we get treated that way after buying an expensive car. They are a separate cost center in most dealerships meaning they have sales targets of their own to drive their own incentive.

I would go to the overall manager of the dealership and let them know if you can't get this resolved to your satisfaction.

I know we have 30 days to cancel extended warranty in California. It should also apply to extended service contract. You should check with your state consumer affair.

They offered these options up to me at closing. You can actually negotiate them down. For +1, they offered to go down $400 from those listed prices.

I'm likely just going to cancel the entire ultimate care extension.

The car is fantastic. It's too bad shi&&y car dealers take the shine off it.

Thanks for everyone's input.

The same sort of thing happened to me and they issued me a check for the balance. Thanks to this board, I found out what others were paying for the same service. I would speak to the general manager if your service advisor can't resolve the discrepancy.

You do get a $100 discount if you purchase it at delivery (that provision is listed on BMW website, so it would be $1999.

My dealer also offered me 4y/50k at a big markup, I think it was ~$2600 vs the ~$1850 BMW price. When I asked about the difference, they said it included a lot of extras, such as loaner, car wash, 'and other stuff'.

I posted yesterday asking about the timing of brake jobs and I won't be adding the maintenance plan, even at the BMW cost, lol.

Did you receive any loan related rebates? If so pay it off right away (instead of waiting the 6 months) and stick the dealer with the bill for the rebate.
