G06 license front plate mount
hello,
got my 2021 X6 today. it was a custom order and it doesn't have any place to mount the front plate. my dealer offered to drill some holes for the front plate mount, but said there are other ways to mount the plate. has anyone found a way to mount the front plate around one of the fake intakes at the bottom left or right? |

The fact that number plates are somewhat 'optional' in the States creates a dilemma I don't envy - over here, they are not optional anywhere in the UK. So drilling the front bumper isn't an issue because there will always be a plate there.
We are so used to seeing them that the cars don't seem to look any worse for having them, its just normal. While they're not aesthetically pleasing, the lack of choice does make acceptance a lot easier. |

I realize you asked about options that would be off-center. I thought I'd share what I did, which is centered and I think looks better than mounting off to the side. I tend to be about symmetry, so think a plate mounted to the side, on almost all vehicles, looks odd.

G06 license front plate mount
I've got a front license plate mount by Carbonio on our X3M; no drill and works with all the front sensors and safety systems. Somebody on here recommended it and it's fantastic.

Was really just showing so that the OP could see a center mount, which does allow for the front sensor(s) to work just fine. Mine is a 2020 G06 and I have all of the driver assist capabilities. I've never had an issue with anything not working. (Well, other than some weather related items, but that has nothing to do with the license plate mount!) |

I hope I don't regret it, but my dealer kind of talked me into deleting it on the build. He said it's only a $70 ticket and that he's never had an issue with his. We'll see if or how many times it's an issue. If it is, I'll be revisiting this thread.

That's really a difficult problem to solve This what I have on the G06 and I couldn't find anything that works better than the one on the M340

What's the big deal with mounting the license plate with the factory device? I doubt you'd still have it once it might become a classic, and since it's original, it wouldn't detract from the value.
A single ticket for failing to comply will in addition to the may be small monetary inconvenience, take time to resolve, and that's not free, either. It's a tool, not a piece of art that you defile by adding it. |

Would check local laws. In my state, it's only required when parked on a city street. I keep my second plate in the glove box and throw it in the window when I park on a city street. Aesthetics and sensors preserved. I've done this for the last 5 years, never had a problem.
