No, only on the edges where it slides. But make sure that the adhesion from stock on the piston are cleaned up.

Noob question:
I'm guessing dealer will not install these if I turn up with them for car's first service? (I'm in Oz but assume it will be the same policy everywhere). If fitted by an independent shop does BMW perform normal brake check when servicing (whatever that means..)

Depends on the dealer. Mine doesn’t have any issue with me bringing them aftermarket parts to install ymmv. After all they are still getting paid for the work. Dealer has frequently called me to ask about aftermarket parts for customers lol. Replacing your brake pads with lkq or better pads should not affect any service checks unless they are not installed correctly or you modify the brake setup drastically. I upgrade the pads on my vehicles and the dealer has never questioned. Unless I tell them I doubt they would even know the pads were changed.

Finding a good independent shop can be great and also much cheaper per hour. Ask around even at the dealer, I know many techs that recommend local shops other than dealer service.

Prices are on my website.
You don’t need brake sensors since your car only have 7800 miles, but there is possibility that your installer may damage it if he is not experienced and careful.
