I once read an article that said the only supplements a man needs are: Fish Oil, D3 and Magnesium Citrate.
So i started taking them. After a while i decided to see a nutritionist and get my blood tested to see what i was deficient in. I stopped taking the supplements about 3 months prior to seeing her. My test results came back showing i was deficient in, wait for it..... Fish Oil, D3 and Magnesium. lol So that's what i'm on. The article researched and tested several offerings of each and found these to be of highest quality. My nutritionist agreed with the article so these are the ones i buy. Links below. Kirkland fish oil 1000 units per gel cap, i take 2 in the am, 2 in the pm. More than most need, i just have hereditary arthritis and the extra fish oil staves off joint pain. http://amzn.to/2x9FTVo Nature's Made D3 in 2000iu gel caps. I'm fairly sensitive to D3 and only take one at night. http://amzn.to/2zlxMWJ Vitamin shope Magnesium Citrate 200mg tablets, i take 2 at night, and one in the morning. http://amzn.to/2znnLYY

I retired early so used time to investigate and test supplements.
Went through most everything on the shelf while reading claims on net. My drugs are very good Micardis blood pressure medicine, and 10mg Prozac (Low dose generic capsule). I've settled out on 1 magnesium l-threonate a day from 2 or 3, and used to take and sometimes do take magnesium malate. You'll be amazed at how good they make you feel, and I feel wonderful breathing when waking up. These don't give diarhrea, but my body (eyes leak water)gets to wet after a few years so I take one. Can you imagine I have no dry skin, but very hydrated. I also take Swanson Vit D-3 5k units which I tested to a #50. Some say one needs up to #75, but I was around 20's when taking 2k/day. I substituted another cheaqp store brank of 5k, and I could tell they were off, and tasted weaker. IMO that people could reaLLY improve health and disability buy getting Vit D-3 and Mag up. That mag oxide 400 mg in store won't do anything unless you take 10 or so a day. There is massive research on vit D-3 and magnesium, and I just eat Salmon as much as possible, brocolli and cheese, olives, shelled pistachios, walnuts, dried cherries. |

My current regimen that I've been on for 2 months now.
1. UltraCell CBD Oil 2. Multivitamin 3. Magnesium 4. Omega 3's 5. Vitamin D Must say that this is the best that I have felt in years. Muscle soreness is almost non-existent, no joint discomfort, and I'm definitely sleeping much better. I was on everything other than the CBD and once I added it, I felt a night and day difference. Skeptical at first but glad I tried it. |

Man, some people take a lot!
Just a multivitamin, pre workout, whey and BCAA for me. I took fish oil for a while but saw absolutely nothing noticeable from it so I stopped.

The average person and lifter does not need all those crazy supplements people up top are taking. Huge waste of money. Proper diet and understanding your bodies needs is what will yield the best results. A little protein powder here and there to help fill where your natural foods cant is no biggie, but that is really about it. I get all my proteins, fatty acids, vitamins and all that from eating healthy natural foods. I supplement protein shakes and BCAAs here and there because of my job and lacking at times the ability to eat when I need to. Seriously, most of those products are filled with horse shit additives and fillers. You're wasting your money.

Nothing should replace natural, whole food. Supplementing is just that...supplementing a good diet. Too many people get caught up in supplementation, and don't put enough attention in solid food. It's usually the gym bros that I talk to who put all their time and effort into supplementation, and they wonder why they can't build mass; they just look cut (i.e., skinny with very little, low quality muscle). |
