iPhone digital key
Just updated the connected drive app in the uk and the app notes states the iPhone can now be used as a digital key.
Anybody worked how to do this. I already have the facility to operate the car with the dealer supplied plastic card |

You'll need to update to iOS 13.6 beta for your iPhone to have the apple key functionality.

sooo what has changed if your vehicle was built 06/30/2020? One day...really BMW?
Well, here's to hoping they roll this out and iron the kinks out...then...possibly expand to the previous builds. Seriously though, can anyone provide some logical reason or explanation for the 07/01/2020 and beyond build? |

Here is what the iOS App update states. I am quite certain I was told I was going to be able to operate my car and share access using my smartphone before buying it in May 2019, and no mention of obscure Samsung models only restriction forever. BMW is likely going to have some 'splaining or retrofits to do ...

My Sep 2019 car has a working Digital Key (NFC) Card. And I have IOS14 beta 1 on my phone. And I have the updated BMW Connected app. Sadly, for me and all existing owners, the phrase "if manufactured after July 1st 2020" is the killer. That was only yesterday. :-(

"The following vehicles built from summer 2020 .... BMW Digital Key will require the upcoming iOS 13.6 and WatchOS 6.2.8." I'm very sad that none of the existing fleet is planned to be enabled.

LOL I've not had any of those either.
Car arrived with 07/2019.55 at the end of October, it got 11/2019.41 with a dealer update in January. Not a sniff of OTA so far. I'm expecting 07/2020.xx to bring Android Auto but I'm pessimistic I'll see that until I go back to my dealer for another manual update. Though I am trying to be patient... |

You'll only see a change if you had the old version of the app and an 07/20 build (which is impossible). It is VIN controlled I believe, so the CD app knows your vehicle won't do it.
I just tested with iOS 14 and the updated app and can confirm that not a damn thing happens.

To see you have the latest version, go the the "More" tab in the very bottom right of the app, choose "Contact and About" and you should see a version number of "10.8.1918". |

Idrive 03/2020 Can't see where to force an update however. Edit just started updating when I opened the App Store Edit 2. And nothing changed. But I was expecting that with the former posts. |

I saw that. But in a recent press release BMW also promised remote activation of seat ventilation and heating. I was looking for that. But probably that will also need an idrive update.

BMW Website:
To see whether your vehicle is compatible, you can use the BMW Connected App. Use your compatible iPhone to log into the app with your BMW ID and add your vehicle to your account, if it is not already shown on your account. If you see a section marked “Digital Key” on the ”Vehicle tab”, then your vehicle is compatible. After you setup Digital Key, you will still be able to use your Digital Key even if you uninstall the BMW Connected app. |
