Condo living/car wash options...UPDATE
I've been doing the ONR 2 bucket methods for years now but I was wondering if there are other alternatives...came across this
http://www.amazon.com/Ivation-Multip...s=CAR+WASH+12V wondering if anybody here has seen or heard of it. looks promising. UPDATE I ended up just buying the damn thing. It does a great job knocking out loose dirt and grime off the car. I only use it to pre-rinse...I still do my ONR but this thing cuts my wash time in half.

That's quite a discount on that sprayer.
I began using ONR because I had a garage without access to water. I now have access to water and I still use ONR just because I love how well it works. |

I have access to a sink or a spout so refilling wouldn't be a problem.

Do you have access to a power outlet? I plan to build a setup with a 25 gallon water transport tank and a self priming electric pressure washer. I'll either strap the water tank to a furniture dolly or get a cart to transport the full water tank to the garage as it will weigh nearly 200lbs when full.

interesting option.... Will your condo management get upset that youre spraying water in the garage?
I live in a condo as well, lucky for me, my parents live around the coder, so I just bring my car to their house to wash. I presume not all are as lucky as me when it comes to that

I do my interior down there. As long as you're courteous to your neighbors, I feel like no one will complain. No complaints means no issues in my opinion

It just blows my mind how some people get all upset when someone who actually knows what they are doing can take precautions to prevent messes when they work on their cars. There are morons that clearly have a leaky oil pan gasket with 3 foot wide oil spills under their car that never seem to do anything about it. I could go as far as using one of those car wash mats to capture all the runoff, but it doesn't really appear people are worried about it. Hopefully, I'll get out of the condo life in a few more years. I just don't like people all up in my business and want to be left alone when I am truly not impacting their way of life. People in the DC metro are weird and seem not to ever interact with one another unless they are pissed off at you for something that they don't agree with.

Did you end up trying this system out? I'm going to start looking for something, too. Any idea how many gallons of water you need to wash a car anyway...

I haven't yet...was reading the reviews and all but one seems to have gotten the unit for free to review. For now, I'm still doing the 2 bucket method with ONR.

fixed that for you
It truly works...and since you're in CA you'll save a ton of water doing the 2 bucket. 1st bucket for your ONR solution 2nd bucket for rinsing make sure you buy the grit guards too

I actually just bought it and tried it for the first time yesterday, in my condo's parking garage. It worked relatively well. I definitely was more careful not to spray neighboring cars.
I actually only went through half of the tank. Given that I'm in the garage and not outside, there was actually very little water evaporation. I washed the car in sections and it worked well. However, I've never tried ONR. It seems like it would work well if your car isn't that dirty and you wash it every week or two; I don't do that, unfortunately. I don't drive my car much, but I also don't wash it weekly; I would have a hard time trusting ONR on a car with more than a light dusting. So that's why I went with this approach.

Planning to get something like this or a portable pressure washer and use distilled water to cut down on water spots.

I parked the car right outside of my building's garage and used the portable power wash system + 2-bucket. I filled the washer with 5 gallons, and each of the buckets with ~4 gallons. Total wash = 13 gallons. There was a lot left in the buckets, but that's by design in order to keep the grime density low. Overall, I am pleased with the results.
