Planned to sale 2024 x5 but subject to the brake recall. Options?

Hello. My 2024 x5 is subject to the integrated brake recall for which there is currently no available fix. It’s obviously a safety issue but one I guess I’d be prepared to tolerate for myself for a period. The problem is that I was about to sale or transfer the vehicle but not sure I am able to do that now.

When I took the vehicle in for service the tech seemed pretty clueless about it. Is there anything I can do about this? I know a lot of folks are in the same boat but I’d rather no keep paying on the lease indefinitely without the ability to sale and no end in sight.

Any ideas? It’s not the end of the world so long as it gets resolved but I don’t really want my wife driving it now - she wrecks cars when the brakes are fully operational. Are there any real options?

Welcome to the forum. The fix has been available for many months. The letters will be sent out on Friday so you should be able to make an appointment next week and get it done.

Without doing it you can still sell or transfer it.

Thank you for the fast response. That is not the impression that the dealer or BMW gave me when I spoke to them but it sounds like I misunderstood. Here’s to praying it is fixed quickly and I can move on with the sale because I have another vehicle on the way 😐

The fix may be out for many months but my dealer doesn’t still have a clue when he will get the parts.
So what’s new…

If they tell me it’s going to be several months is there anything I can to wrap up this lease? It’s going to be a serious problem if I’m stuck with the vehicle and unable to really sell it bc of this. I guess I should have accounted for this but I have leased several vehicles before and have never run into this.

I believe you can still sell it- the CarFax will simply show an "Open Recall" until it is fixed. How that impacts trade-in/retail value, I have no idea?

You can still sell/lease transfer the X5. It’ll have an open recall which isn’t a big deal and the seller doesn’t need to make it a big deal. In the meantime the brakes are operational.

I went through this same thing. You CANNOT transfer the lease with an open safety recall. I was told countless times by BMWFS they do not allow it and nobody in management will make an exception to that rule. You can sell it so that's still an option if you're considering it.

OP is not in the US. Here some folks have already had it done and parts will be available for dealers after the letters are sent out.

Man I hope mine is fixed quickly then. It’s going to be much harder for me to sale than transfer the lease.

Exactly, that is why I said the OP you were responding to was not in the US.

Not correct. He is the OP of the thread but he was the one responding to Heavyd 's post so HeavyD is the OP in the conversation being referred to.
