Owner's Track Drive Invitation

Did anyone else who bought a 2020 BMW get this invitation? I tried googling it and could only find that it's similar to the PCD routine: Drive BMW on their track, off-road course with X SAV.

If anyone else attended this (not sure if this is new for 2020) please share your thought

I got the same e-mail yesterday for my M50i. Yes it sounds exactly like a PCD day. I did it for my 650i M edition coupe & it was great. I will take them up on over the winter. Cool aspect is for the track driving they put you in exactly what you bought- so I will get to drive e M50i like I would never drive mine!

I got the same email. I'm assuming it's the same as the PCD. I picked up my M50i at the PCD so if it's more of the same I'll probably just pass.

I got this email, and I signed up for it. It sounds great, but it is not the full day. It is a two hour experience starting at 8AM. But it is free. And you get to bring a spouse or guest, who can also drive. To be eligible, you have to have purchased your BMW in 2020.

I am going to Spartanburg, but they also have slots in Thermal, California.

I'll report back after I do it.

I did the U.K. equivalent when I got my last M4. Was a great day. M2, M4 and M5 on track for loads of laps plus a few laps in the M850i and the Z4 M40i. Great fun.

I went to Thermal, CA, and paid for one hour of track time in an M car. Fun stuff, bet the whole day would be quite memorable.

I also received this email. I have never taken a vehicle on a track so it is best that I avoid it since I'm not sure if I will break my vehicle. Also, Spartanburg is very far from me. If New Jersey, I'd probably give a thought.

You don't drive your personal vehicle. They loan you an equivalent. When I did the PCD they didn't have any M50i so I drove a regular 50i. It was fun to throw it around the track to see what it's really capable of. I would say typical day to day driving doesn't even scratch the surface of what these beast can do.

Coincidentally the 50i I was driving went into safe mode so I had to pull off the track and restart the car. Guess I pushed her a little too hard.

Have you been to both? The track looks different. Also what is the cost for the 1 hour track time in M car? That sounds interesting

Please do. I did PCD at Spartansburg but would love to check out Thermal CA.

No, only been to Thermal, paid $300 for the hour which I thought was well worth the cost and drove the M with carbon-ceramic brakes.

At the end, one of the instructors took my wife and daughter for a hot lap and drifted every corner at speed, huge smoke show in the process. As much fun as I had driving the car I would have paid $300 just to for the response my wife and daughter had. They loved it which made the whole experience worth the effort.

Solomandrin did some videos (The Hyper 5 if I recall correctly) that are on YouTube at the same track in Thermal, they have a few different tracks but the one he used in the videos is the same one BMW used while we were there.

I did the new owner's track drive yesterday (see my long post).

If you took delivery in 2020, you are eligible, whether or not you took delivery in Spartanburg.
